Was reading about VZ's new CEO and his outlook for the company... what are the thoughts on where we will land?

Where we will land? In the sh----r that's where.
I’m a tech from Verizon (non union) I’m sorry to say most will probably be laid off. They cut techs with 1-5 years experience, 10 years and 20+ years. It was random and did not matter about performance reviews, pay, or years with the company. They just dodge us and don’t really care about the outcome. They don’t want buildings or people. They want to contract out everything. Honestly if you’re a hound tech you should look at getting into other industries because this industry is a race to the bottom much like long distance service used to be. Everyone is in the game now. Power companies offering internet, all satellites and cable tv operators, multiple cellular providers. The market is saturated and the only way to compete is to keep cutting. Cut pay, benefits and people. The pay will never be there again. Get out and find another field if you’re young! If you’re older and want to try and finish out your career just know the pay will be half and layoffs every quarter. You will never have security in this field again. Sorry for the bleak post but I do want the younger techs entering the field to take warning.
@23r Hopefully they whack that P O S
Bye Bye FERIOLA
@1cj
This is almost laughable. I sp-t my food out while eating.
You are kidding right? VZ will slash at least 70-80% of everyone. They do the exact same business except at much larger scale. They will literally cut everyone as fast as possible. This is the truth.
They want you for your fiber, and for your highspeed access line subscribers
@17b they ain't buying it for the people
Trust me, you're going to be better off where you are. Good luck!
Fiber is one of there very few growth opportunities. No way they're getting rid of Frontier talent
verizon literally cannot improve its services or grow ARPU. customers are sick of price increases. layoffs are the way to go!
get ready to hear speeches about "operational efficiency" every quarter until it's your turn to be axed
leave now, go find a company that wants to have you there.
verizon will be looking at you like a number to reduce.
Verizon has Approximate total of around 100k total employees.
Frontier has Approximate total of around 13k total employees.
Rumors, and news articles indicate Verizon to RIF 15% of total employees by end of year.
Verizon has shed 100k employees over the last 10-15 years and has had layoffs EVERY YEAR for the last 3-5 years.
Although not good news, but, you asked.
@OP This gives you an idea if what is going to happen a year after the deal is completed. If it is. They made agreements to keep employees for a year. After that, gone. I'm thinking at least 85% of non-union.
Just about to spend $20b on Frontier. Ain't no way they're going to blow it up!
Job cuts possible or not. Hope this helps. 🤣
More layoffs
