This is crazy!! After 18 years I just found out I’m getting laid off. The expats are untouched yet I am expendable!! I hate this place. So glad I’m officially done.

First off, if this is true I’m sorry for those who have lost their careers and I hope management reads this. Just like last time I said this and will say it again, look to the consultants that you have on board and slim down from there first! It is likely you are paying double to triple what a Full time employee is getting paid. We are all business people and expect change to happen but to look to your tenured employees first, before consultants makes no sense.
If companies would be transparent and disclose layoffs...
@w1Please stop causing panic. By not mentioning the initials or the department related to the supposed recent Melville layoffs, you're only trying to stir up trouble among the many frustrated and easily irritated individuals here. This site really needs to be audited for false posts. Readers, beware! #shitstirer
I can validate this post. The poster and another friend of mine were both let go. I’ve lost my 4 closest co-workers / friends here (3 of them were amazing hard working and intelligent employees/colleagues and 1 I understand the company move).
There is no rhyme or reason to these layoffs when I (and everyone else) look around and see the severely unqualified Japanese expats “untouchable” to layoffs. It’s beyond laughable at this point.
I just began looking for a new job as I can clearly see the writing on the wall here. Anyone under 55 years old who doesn’t plan on retiring in the next 2-3 years should be doubling down on their job search efforts.
Think we should "validate" this post before getting your pa-ties in an uproar
All this will do in result in more quiet quitting. This company obviously doesn't give goose cr-p about employees and openly practices anti-American values. The CEO and empty suits and bootlickers can go to he-l.
I dislike the “big company” mentality. It’s not personable at all.
On one hand, it’s the tired old buzzwords and slogans: “collaborate”, “synergy”, and “teamwork makes the dream work”. On the other hand, it’s “streamline”, lean and mean”, “balanced scorecards” and “Six Sigma”.
I honestly don’t believe you can have it both ways.
It’s really sad that that people don’t seem to understand that making things more efficient means there will be jobs lost. It doesn’t means layoffs are on the horizon. Our company has always been personnel heavy in certain areas. I also believe that it’s not clear to everyone that if you can do your job better from home, from a big company perspective that’s an ideal job to outsource
@OP "getting" laid off? Please explain. Does this mean that your department is being liquidated perhaps end of year? Or did they say thank you for working? Your job is no longer needed effective today.?
I think this poster is clearly just trying to get a rise out of people… No layoffs in Melville since DR early last month
fake news
@e6 people want to work from home BECAUSE IT SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVES THEIR LIVES and does NOT impact their work. 90% of people don't come in on "optional" days for a reason. Are you the boss ignoring employees in this scenario? Because it sure sounds like you'd rather appease an empty suit on 5 than do what's right for the people that make this place function on a daily basis.
Probably a chronic complainer on not being able to work from home, their boss is always ignoring their team , etc
Curious what department/s this effects. Is it just Melville. Can someone please provide a little more information.
Congratulations American! You survived a Japanese game show!

Probably responded to the “anonymous” survey.
What Divisions were impacted?
I’m sorry that happened.
The nation of origin (Japan) discrimination against Americans is clear and widespread.
It’s shameful while Canon also takes local community tax breaks especially.
