fwiw, he's not talking about hiring in the US. the huge majority of open roles are abroad in poland, india, czech republic, ireland, brazil where salaries are considerable lower.
the layoffs were across all age groups. it had more to do with salary.

@OP it's ageism, pure and simple in disguise of not having the right skills sets. What extra skills does Alvind have a CEO? He is nothing exceptional. IBM became a dump and has been made worse with the introduction of Indian mindset. It's all about the Indians cannibalizing the business until there is no business. Then they move on to the next victim.
