VZ HR has been operating below expectations going all the way back to the Bell Atlantic era. The function never evolved into a true people strategy organization. It became primarily a compliance shield for leadership instead of a real talent engine.
This is why trust in HR collapsed internally long before the current restructuring cycle. Employees don’t see HR as advocates or strategic partners – they see a risk-filter and a PR firewall.
When HR stops being about human capital and becomes a political buffer layer, you end up exactly where Verizon is today: a company trying to “transform” with a broken internal operating system.
Oh my God could not agree more. And the IT HR lady, Brenda Jimenez , is the worst of the worst. Spends most of her time kissing the butts of SVP and gossiping away. And doing plenty of unethical things.
At the very least enforce a pulse score for HR - hold them accountable. So that they’re not spending all of the time just managing up.
Call center representatives, need to be cut. They lost there worth by WFH. Now everything is outsourced. So I feel that department can cut some fat.

It deserves nothing less than 50% headcount reduction with all Sr leaders shown the door. Talk about a worthless org with failure after failure, broken promise after broken promise. Too many examples to list
