I was laid off in Greenwood Village, CO. We did not get the heads up notice, they walked us out like we stole something... no chance was given to look for other internal roles... almost veryone laid off was over 50 so pay attention to this. i heard rumors that other groups affected followed the same pattern. the mgmt told us that they were not looking at age when they were selecting people but i do not buy this statement. anyhow, if you are over 50 be careful and plan for the worse and hope for the best.

@fr exactly !
Get rid of H1B and let the American youth a chance at a job. Nepotism is on fire, family members hiring family members. So wrong. H1B hires is out of control.
My team members were treated the exact same way when we were laid off from the Greenwood Village office a year ago May. We were told that layoffs were done by job title, but those laid off were SEIi, SEIII, and Senior Director. The common link is that we were all over 60 years old. Those on our team, under 60, got to keep their jobs.
@zf we should not blame H1b holders for this. if they perform better then the people letting go, it means we need them. they are hard working peoples just like us and trying to contribute to the society same as you and me.
I am against the company's policy on outsourcing, but not to my H1b fellows.
@fr Charter should be sued in class action for getting so many H1B's and contractors on H1/L1 VISAS and laying off US Citizens and Permanent Residents in the same job profiles.
I am 25 and was laid off. I doubt age has anything to do with it.
@OP I think I can see why you were laid off, and it has nothing to do with age.
Why so many layoffs yet the break rooms to dominated by people with H1b visas from India? Charter claims to hire domestically but then loads the place with people who are not citizens. How about stop bringing in foreign workers in order to right size your company?
Depends on location and the age mix within the team/group.
If all of you are 50+, there will be people who are let go and people who are kept that are 50+.
They go after comp, the older u are the more comp u have. So, yes, older folks are targets.
They also do not have morals or ethics, that does not help those who are 50+
i’m in my 30s and was laid off yesterday as well. Nothing to do with age
Im 61!!! And busier than ever!!!
