Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Leaving

Has anyone ( specifically grades 22-24) found a better job outside of the company? Or one that at least pays the same amount you were getting paid here and given as much PTO?

@dv Attitude? No. You had connections. That's the only way.

Holidays are for slackers. Work me like a leatherman in a shoe factory!

@f4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_holidays_in_the_United_States. A lot of employers give off the week between Christmas & New Years.

If the pay is going to be so sh!tty the office grunts should have better holiday schedules than those of us working retail in clinics or on phones. Always puzzled me why we are paid biweekly, too. Weird culture.

@b2 UHG official holidays are terrible. Which is by design so that you feel pressured to work while you're on PTO because the rest of the people you work with are working and deadlines assume you're also working all night and all weekend.

The "extra" time off barely accounts for the short list plus that vacation time. I would gladly give up a week of UHG formatted PTO for a proper holiday schedule. Seems petty in the interview process but ABSOLUTELY something I'm going to ask for my next job.

I started as a 22 and am now a 29 and leading a highly valued team that brings in a bit of revenue. it is your career so take the bull by the horns and give it your best shot regardless of if it is here or elsewhere. good luck. oh and BTW - The MAGIC WORD is Attitude

Yes. I left to work for another insurance company. Better pay, better benefits, better PTO. Doing the same position. Wish I had done it sooner!!

Should be much easier to find another job at that lower level pay grade in many areas and also other industries in general. The higher you go the tougher it gets to find alternatives.

I found a job that paid above my salary grade (grade level 25) doing the same exact thing. I did have to lose a week of PTO because I was with UHG for 5+ years so I’ll have to start over on tenure at the new place but everything else benefits wise and flexibility is better on the outside!

We would need to know what area… as the below user said, maybe a radiology place. But level 22-24 could be in the hospitals/clinics, call center, entry analyst, all sorts of things.

Optum and UHG tend to pay below market though. The problem is hiring all over has slowed down a lot.

Benefits is easy too. UHG dental and vision outright isn’t even accepted at most places, so anything is better. And the plans for health we get are 100% identical to UHG plans I have had at other companies. Time off here is a bit worse than market as well.
