half of the time it is "this has to be a secret from the rest of the team" mentality. How many calls have you been on where a "leader" says - "Ok, every can drop except blank, blanky and sparky" so they can talk off line.
A real leader doesn't do that, the real leader connects with the people he wants to talk with off line directly, not as an add on to a team wide call (we know who you are)

If so inclined, this can be used advantageously in efforts to avoid productivity.

Reframe it as an opportunity. See how little you can accomplish in a day, then challenge yourself to beat it the next day. It can be super fun, with the proper mindset.
