Regarding advancement, you don't get to move anywhere - even laterally - unless you know people. Ford is all about who you know.
I would say wages are fine, but horrendous culture and no accountability on anything serious. Been at Ford for just under five years and looking for another job right now.
Wage Parity- Poor from software engineering perspective ever since they did away with GSR 9, 10 etc and stopped valuing technical expertise (beginning mid 1990s).
Work Culture- Poor decline started about the same timeframe when they decided everyone’s aspiration should be to become a LL6, LL5 etc. The FnF crowd pretty much took over the LL* positions and the H1B invasion began. Mid 1990s.
Opportunity for Advancement- Non-existent past GSR8 unless you are FnF or knifing on behalf of FnF.
Actions on Serious Issues- Rarely. Actions observed are to blame a scapegoat, but root causes are not addressed. In the old days we did fix issues, and under Mulally we did. Now ignoring and coverups are the norm
@OP I retired 3yrs ago. So here is my assessment of what I have seen over the years.
@av Lol
@at Oh mama!
@ar ?
@aq ?
@ap You're trolling a troll on a troll site? Very creative!
@an Fordites running rampant on the forums again defending the blue oval it seems. Anything interesting or a dig that has a comment like yours is something pretty interesting to read about. Thanks for drawing attention
@am Wow, someone has really lost it today!

@aa Ford will do more than fire you once they identify you...
@ab Sh-t sorry, just read the rest of your note, that's not what we're looking to do at all, you can trust us, we're Forbes!
@aa That'd be great if you could provide.
@a4 want our badge and social security number, too? Should make it easy for you to identify who to fire then, right?!
Would not recommend. Most of the other feedback accurate. Salary is poor as well.
@a3 If you don't mind me asking, what is your TC and YOE? Which department? What level are you? Are you in the higher or lower band of your salary grade level? What level did you start at? How long have you been here for? Have you ever negotiated for yourself while* here? What is your level of education? Have you worked at other places before? Did you originally negotiate during hiring? Are you paid more than your colleagues with relative experience, internally and externally?
You don't have answer any of these at all. Just helps give perspective for others
Wage parity - Ford is among the highest paying jobs I've found with some of the best 401k benefits I can find. Healthcare coverage is dogshit, and other benefits blow unless you're union - but pay and 401k for white collar employees is pretty great.
Work culture - Pre-covid was pretty fantastic, a bit old school but still workable. Post-covid it's abhorrent. Everyone everywhere will acknowledge that culture is in the toilet and leadership has lost the plot. Bad, bad, bad.
Opportunities for advancement - Non-existent for anyone except the most vicious self-promoters. All leadership positions are being filled with outside hires. Do not come to Ford to try to move up.
Whether the employer acts on serious issues - Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha 🤣
Ok
