If I hear one more “rumor“ on this website of layoffs, I’m going to vomit. I swear to God every month somebody puts up a rumor on here and it never happens. All it does is cause concern for the employees who have been there and are still working. Do you all get off on using scare tactics to freak everyone out? I think you will need therapy.

I think your stress and anger is mis-placed. It is not this website that has people constantly on edge. Blame the company that is out there cutting people in small batches to stay under the radar and has now come out publicly stating "do more with less". It's a fact they are offshoring many jobs and teams are actively experiencing cuts, so even people who have never heard of this site are living with the same worries.
im sure during your team meeting they gave you high level information there is going to be a mass reorg and layoffs. sure bud
There are layoffs coming. It was actually announced in a Team meeting that the company is doing a huge reorganization to reduce overhead. So if you don’t want to hear the truth then get off of this website

@an candyman isn’t a niche department head, he is the Chief Digital Technology Office for Optum. I believe his span is about 60-80k people. Before they rebranded their services, Optum was mostly a software company so obviously a lot of software engineers are going to post about it.
This site is surprisingly accurate. Not all RIFs are company wide. I notice when an uptick in rumors start, they generally happen. Last month for example, there weren’t RIFs and there weren’t rumors.
Most posts are not even employees but ex-disgruntled employees. I actually know someone let go 4 years ago that keeps posting here acting like a current employee.

@an what u don’t realize is those 400,000 employees most are overseas. And they are trying to get the state side employees down to 30 percent. We on the employee team who handle the authorizations for the employees in all 50 states have seen the request down to to less than 100 in the last two years so each person use to have up to 60 requests daily and now less than . The reason is the employees stateside are less and less .

There have been layoffs almost every single month recently. I've lost coworkers in multiple departments and teams. There were a bunch of layoffs on July 24th. Just because you aren't seeing them in your department doesn't mean they haven't been happening.
This place is a small % of the company that happens to get lay offs a lot.
Notice how people here talk talk about someone called Mister Candy Man, the 100x Madman, etc. These folks don’t realize 95% of the company have no clue what this stuff they talk about is. Nor do those 430,000 care about Candy Man or the 100x Maniac as they will never once in their careers have anything to do with these niche/bubble departments.
This place has like 450,000 employees. There are more experts in certain niches in one part of Optum or UHC than ALL the SMEs combined at other local big boys like Target, US Bank, Medtronic.
These rumors have all been true. Wake up! If you are a US employee then it’s just a matter of time before you are replaced. They are making it near impossible to be successful at this place. 100x is running this place to the ground

Did you see Steve H email this morning regarding "difficult decisions" and AI? That should be concerning.
Maybe you should get off this layoff website??? Most of the rumors came true... just because your department hasn't been impacted, doesn't mean someone else's dept had the same outcome.
