Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I was let go today.

But I feel relieved. What truly hurts is when companies don’t have a backbone to take the accountability on themselves and put the blame on you. Well, such companies are not a place to work for anyways.

@n3

You don't live in the real world, nor pay attention do you?

@n3 are you really that ignorant? Most people who get laid off are good performers that never see it coming.

@dy When you get good performance reviews and your immediate management hasn’t said their unhappy about anything… why should you expect to be fired?

@cg

I know of someone who had 11 years at Ford and was let go in 2023. His skills were needed elsewhere in the company and he was a high performer....but never given the chance. This company has no interest or pathway investing in people...quite the opposite actually.

You should expect no warning and no (or a very impotent and weak) reason. Im amazed by how many "I didn't see it coming.." posts...are you guys just being dramatic or what? There's no way any rational person can look at Ford as a company right now and say "I'm good for a few years.". No way, just look around at what they are doing. You shouldn't be surprised, you should plan on being laid off. Employee layoff and recalls are the only 2 things Ford has been consistent about these past 4-5 years.

Quit acting surprised...you know/knew it was coming. Some just dont want to see.

stay frugal on the severance package - it can take 6+ months. During the GFC , it took 3-5 years for some people. The guys used up all their retirements in 50s.

@a7

I was ousted in 2023 with no warning.

No clue.

They just said they didn’t need me anymore.

Had I known, there were other organizations that needed what I can do but I wasn’t even given the curtesy of being given the chance to move.

Well Aug 22 was the 3rd anniversary of Farley’s blood letting and dismantling ICE powertrain. Farley is a bigger 🤡 than is funny cousin Chris.

I figured Ford was this type of place. A lot of nepotism to the point of destroying everything. Don't feel bad about how it went just know that this place is sc--wed and go elsewhere. Don't waste your life at a place like that.

Yup, im guessing they are looking for a % to thrift quarter by quarter. So sorry to hear. They found an obscure point to note on my mid-year to give me a low what...to make their %. Not likely they will allow me to improve by year end but I am scrappy. They are definitely looking for ways to oust without risk of backlash. The truth of what is happening eventually comes out. Those released please know you are free and at peace. Ford has some really quality people and they are now pushing out that quality.

@OP I'm sorry that happened. Was it done during your mid-year review with HR on Teams or after at random?

@av I don’t understand how the failure of Canopy Security LLC, which one person claimed was his idea, didn’t result in the termination of that person. Somehow they are now General Manager of safety and security services traveling around to get FF points claiming to be learning why vehicles are stolen so often.

I answered that question from my couch. What happened to the engineers who designed keyless systems?

“The surge in theft is also linked to the increased prevalence of keyless systems that can be exploited, a higher demand for certain stolen parts like catalytic converters, and a lack of security features in some popular car models.”

Why does it always seem like they get rid of the wrong people? Nothing will change until they start to get rid of the “yes” people and kiss a$$es. You’ll look back some day and thank God this happened to you. Stay strong.

They started 2 weeks ago. First going after pension people about to hit milestones or have years. They are trying to do it quietly in waves to stay under the radar to avoid bad press like they are struggling under the weight of recalls and warranty. Bloated senior management, and of course, where do you think they are going to look to find more money for their EV money drain.

I was also let go today. The cuts are starting and will continue throughout Sept my LL6 told me.
Best of luck to you all. I have money saved and am totally mobile so no worries for me but hope the rest are OK. Bye folks.

Curious to know this as well. Sometimes they don't even PIP you and just cut off access. I don't know what the deciding factors are on that.
