Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Gratitude in Times of Change

Today, I’m feeling profoundly grateful.

Grateful for our firm’s relentless momentum. Grateful for the opportunity we all have to be part of something bigger than ourselves. And grateful—truly—that so many of you still have the privilege of calling Edward Jones your professional home.

As we continue to optimize our operating model and accelerate strategic priorities, we are making some difficult but necessary adjustments to our home-office footprint. Change is hard. But let’s remember: not everyone gets a seat on a rocket ship. If you’re still strapped in, that’s because your work, your attitude, and your resilience have earned it.

To those impacted by this redesign: thank you for your service mindset and the seasons you’ve invested in our purpose. You should leave with your heads high, knowing your contributions enabled this next chapter. I’m confident you’ll land on your feet quickly; after all, talent rises.

To those who remain: this is your moment. Lean in. Do more with less. Embrace the ambiguity that comes with growth. Our clients, communities, and colleagues are counting on your extreme ownership. Let’s turn this into a masterclass in execution—fewer silos, faster decisions, bigger outcomes.

We talk a lot about gratitude here. Let’s practice it. Be grateful for the work on your plate. Be grateful for the challenge in front of you. Be grateful for the chance to build what comes next. Opportunities like this don’t come often.

Onward—driven by purpose, powered by performance.

@b0 very true, if you are a woman, person of color, or ho-------l and you are an FA, you will get a Level 10 office handed to you, no matter what your level of competence is. The public is learning this and moving their money.

@cm Yup, Didn't Earn It and EJ leans into DEI. Time to go independent and grow my own RIA and only accept meritocracy in who I hire and promote. EJ is a sinking ship!

@cm that’s horsesh-t. Diversity is good for everyone and did not cause this. Greed is.

Whoever wrote this did an amazing job at capturing the MP's voice. I could HEAR it in my head. I am 100 percent sure this is nearly the exact script we will get in a 4:30 pm video posted to Amplify on the 26th.

and, now we see the result of DEI hiring policies. the incompetent and selfish get everything they want, at the expense of others. Ted would be mortified.

Rocket Ship? More like Steam Boat. EJ is still woefully behind the competition in so many ways that leadership continuously fails to identify and fix. Associates might get the "opportunity" to do the job of three for less than the market rate of one. ELT and the GP class will continue to enrich themselves while outsourcing their "leadership" to consultants and ChatGPT.

@ad oh there is sufficient incidents of discrimination here. One of the GPs got retired after getting investigated by associate relations. HC does masterful job of covering these things up. You can be sure memos will find itself to the right people soon about other misgivings. My division leaders can teach a class on how to marginalize people. It just so lovely.

@ad no trade secrets, everyone in the industry knows our business model is to charge 1.40% for ETFs and basic index funds.

I’m SO grateful I’m out of a job after 30 years at EDJ. I’m SO grateful I have to cry myself to sleep wondering how I’m gonna support my 2 children with NO INCOME anymore. I’m so grateful EDJ is putting me out to pasture when I’m not old enough to retire, but too old to get hired anywhere. But most of all I’m so grateful Penny worships money and put her personal greed ahead of 9,000 ASSOCIATES and all their families. I am grateful I won’t have to hear Penny’s sickening accent anymore. Hungry, humble, hustle? My kids might go hungry, that’s for sure. And I am humble enough to apply for part time jobs at Target or Dierbergs to try to feed my kids since my resume has resulted in ZERO interviews so far. I sure will hustle to liquidate my LP so I can pay my mortgage. THANK YOU Penny for ruining 9,000 people’s lives. I hope you are proud of your “contributions” to EDJ.

Wow, Davie! —thank you for the profound gratitude. Nothing makes me feel more valued than being told I may or may not have a seat on the rocket ship while the oxygen is being cut off. I’ll definitely “lean in” to doing more with less—because who doesn’t love carrying twice the load with half the team? Truly, what a privilege to be “optimized” out of a job in the name of momentum. Onward indeed—fueled by gratitude, sprinkled with ambiguity, and powered by corporate buzzwords.

Today, I am feeling profoundly stressed, stressed that after 25 years I may lose my livelihood so that the rich can keep getting richer.
I thought I was on the space ship but instead I’m on a sinking ship. This firm is going down with this kind of “leadership”

Respectfully, f off.
