Ok for all that don't know 12 years in and 3 years from retirement is NRE. You can be hassled, dropped in ranking, not given a raise, and nsi ed. The one thing you cant be is piped. When you reach this point just hold on and don't do anything stupid. I am currently less than two years away and am on a joke of a dpc plan. It is childish and stupid. I think they made up some cr-p for me to do. I will do their plan and say I will try harder next year. One task is for me to try to volunteer for the weam program and help with pmsm. I asked if I did not have enough time to complete it what would happen and was told nothing. Another mundane task was to help complete some administrative cr-p for the supervisor. The supervisor and HR dont seem to be concerned if I dont finish all of the tasks. They say all they want is for me to improve and be a more productive employee. I think it is total BS and a waste of time. I should have been given engineering work or design work because that is what I am good at not administrative cr-p. I asked and they said these are the areas I need improvement in. I think they want me to kiss their a sses and grovel and beg for my job. Well anyway I am just counting down the days till 55 and freedom. Anything after 55 is a bonus for me and I will take it. To those who say I am just sc--wing off I am a skilled engineer and have volunteered to do work on projects. The important work goes to the young and the favorites. I get the work no one wants like ordering spares for the plants and checking specifications on equipment. Exxon is no place for the old. Around 700 days to go for me.

You cannot get respect from your employees if you do not treat them with respect. Professionalism goes both ways. If you treat someone like an animal they will act like one. I am only responding to the bad treatment I am subjected to. When you have had enough of the sh-t you will rebel and fight back too. I am not a poor and young employee that can be intimidated and bullied. Once you have enough money to comfortably retire your attitude will change. I used to wonder why all the oldies did not give a sh it anymore. It is a sense of relief to know you can leave at anytime on your own terms. I do not like these young arrogant supervisors that try to micromanage and bully employees. Exxon can ding me for not being professional for the next year and a half. I welcome and dare them to pip me at 55. I will take my lump sum,medical and leave this place forever.
