Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

Do not trust management or HR!

There's a lot of backside covering and blame shifting. Many people being bullied, forced out, retired, etc. Obviously a good manager helps in terms of advocating for you but there are quite a few rotten eggs and it's not helpful when the bad ones are key stakeholders. Here in Australia there is a manager who is one of the most manipulative people I've ever met in my life. Sycophantic psychopathy who paints himself as the victim while rarely ever accepting true responsibility. Just nod and smile. Don't let them control the narrative. HR is also atrocious and support management, toxic or not. Run for the hills and look for another job like all good people at this company!

@22f have you seen II sales lately. No qualified sales leaders. All have little to no background in sales and they don’t care to actually get better.

HR had an all hands meeting 10:30am till 12:00 pm, ate lunch, and left by 1:30 pm. I guess they are flexing for their day….pretty cake gig. It appears they are a touch over- staffed? Optics is everything.

@6bs I have seen employees go to Hr for serious issues and the rep is completely unavailable working from home. They got a call back the next day.

@3st THIS! Too true. Soooo many HR & IT staff that are beyond useless and not qualified. Way too many of them for the value they provide as well. The worst is when they act busy but are essentially doing pi-s all, having a chat and causing trouble. When you actually need IT help as well it's like they just look up some procedure sheet. I could've just done that myself. Don't get me started on HR as well. Geeeeeez. What a bunch of corrupt, biased, lazy, inept crowd. One bimbo got laid off was super useless, beyond a joke. The sad thing is she probably got a decent payout as well and was looked after, unlike everyone else.

@51b That is really sad - a publicly traded American company championing "Blacks Only" groups. No wonder our culture su-ks. What genius decided that creating a fractured workforce, focusing on demographic divisions would be a great thing? I often wonder if colleagues look at me as a "DEI hire". The whole thing makes me feel uncomfortable. Things were better back when unity and excellence was the goal.

@3qp found out today that there is a blacks-only Viva Engage community that vets members before allowing them to join. I'm black and this still feels wrong [select exclusion].

HR at Hp is never working a 4-1. Ladies are pretty slick. Just watch who leaves the building at 2pm every day now.
With candidates now doing pre interviews with a third party company, maybe HR will be offshored. It’s the next look to save money after tech. Both are just bloat to any company. Wonder which department has more people? Or useless people? Would venture 90 percent of both groups of employees, do not hold degrees in computer science/ or engineering or any thing in the OD or Human Resources.

Look at anyone at the top, at TRP in the finance side. Now look at HR and IT.
Takes a well rounded team to win continuously.

Also if you’re black you are excused from all the dei garbage that rest of us are required to do. Awesome HR department !

@3kc So true! Someone else said it, then I noticed it. Even all the art work is non caucasian or created by non caucasians through out the building. Even the ever repetitive totally useless digital signage. Feeling the love…

@22f Those bios on the Exchange page are a joke. Does anybody really read those? I could give AF. A few years back some female manager wrote a story on there about her "menopause journey". I could give AF about that too. Well, good news is all of those minorities featured will likely be keeping THEIR jobs No need to offshore their jobs.

II in US is full of incompetent leaders with little to no integrity. Are we allowed to name people because that would ideally create some accountability?

@22p No this was a couple of years ago now I believe. Smokescreening when the team had no wins for a couple of years since he joined.

@22p Don't believe so. Think of the manager who appears nice and will say things like "how can I help" but then say "no sorry that's not my responsibility" in return. In Australia not the USA. He's never really in the office and says he's seeing clients. Which makes no sense at all because a lot of the clients will be in the city...

@1tm jeez all the down votes tells ya all ya need to know. Come on, the place is full of unqualified people with no real education or experience in the Job they hold. If you are a g-y minority it’s like bonus points. They will even do a story about you on exchange. Only white person, I ever see on the exchange page is sharps….Starting to see all the nepotism as well.

@OP the management in Baltimore is a joke as well. I watched for decades as the good ones were replaced by DEI hires, and the quality of output (as expected) slowly began to dwindle. Now there are people in positions that have zero right to be there, but they kissed the right as--s and said the right woke nonsense, and now they’re “in charge” of something. What a joke. Such a once great firm is slowly unraveling at the seams. I’ve been gone for a while now, so it’s actually fun to watch what DEI and wokeness does to a once-great company. It’s a dumpster fire.

@1e5 Not a joke and not funny. He's probably ruined many careers and lives. The issue is management support him and turn a blind eye. I believe his modus operandi is smoke screening and gaslighting. Super manipulative! With the people in his team he pushed out it appears he went around asking colleagues for "constructive feedback" on them then blew a lot of things out of proportion and made issues out of nothing. Similarly with colleagues in different teams I've experienced him say something superficial like "how can I help" and then say "that's not my responsibility" when confronted. I felt he then tries to put responsibility and accountability on others while doing the least amount of work possible. Feels very coercive. He pretended to be better for a while when I think his boss said something to him when too many people complained but then that reverted. A leopard never changes its spots.

@jz Someone in the LONDON thread commented on this. Many (not all) of the staff in Australia are B and C graders who have 2nd and 3rd tier industry experience. It's a shame they got a lot of the open head count as they were deemed a "focus market". Should be out of focus market...

@19d HA! Do you also remember that woman's replacement. A single mother going that went through a tough divorce and only lasted like a week before she "decided to resign". Then he hired a younger blonde girl. LOL what a cliche. I heard that once her contract was up they offered her a permanent role but she said not. Rather be unemployed than work for them.

@OP I think I know who you're talking about. Be careful around him as he's an absolute vindictive psychopath. I'm pretty sure many of his team in the past have complained about him and called him out on many things. It seems he bullied and forced them all out. One poor woman was so traumatised that she removed her LinkedIn and moved states. If you're on his team, bad luck! If not, just be careful.

Not really trust them, trowe HR is so incompetent from the top down. I have found they make horrendous / amateurish decisions on all aspects of their job. From dei enforcement, allowed the black only leadership group, employee issues, wfh, preferential hiring, hearsay is they gave just the black admins a little bonus. I can’t believe there have not been lawsuits about this kind of stuff. Slam dunk lawsuit!

Management in Australia is a joke. A concentrated business where the majority of revenue is in two strategies, both the same asset class and same style of investing. Revenue also concentrated in a few massive clients. What a bunch of lazy and inept fools. Yeah, don't innovate or diversify in any meaningful way. Don't chase down leads and sales because you can't be bothered to even go into the office and let alone see clients. What a slow moving train wreck. But don't worry, they will have made their money while everyone else needs a job in the future. It's such a shame to see what's happened to the office.
