Loved the Exxon wisdom to dump all the environmental and plugging liabilities by giving Nigeria the offshore junk fields.

I liked the Exploration fracs that were designed to turn a water well into an oil well. Actually, being assigned to an exploration well was easy as a completion engineer because we never had to complete anything.

There was a study back in circa 2000's that showed that most if not all of our "new" technology discoveries had a NPV of ZERO. Why? We spent 20 years of sunk R&D costs before the "new" technology ever starting generating a positive cash flow.

Twenty years of "sunk" R&D costs translates to twenty years of positive cash flow before we break even. It would have been less costly to license the "new" technology from a licensor and lay off the R&D staff that spent twenty years developing a "ME TO" technology.

@e0 Yet nothing new or innovative (and therefore profitable) has resulted from any of your work for over a decade.

Go figure.

Renewable diesel is not new technology. It is 30+ years old and four other companies offer similar renewable diesel technology.

Upstream is even worse. name one that did not fail in terms of delivering what was promised.

All or most are in house copies of easily available much better vendor product, but the mid- management is full of liars who font want to admit that and dorcefully keep these ‘technology programs’ running to pad their pds.

upstream technology has a downstream VP. even easier to make things up.

i huess no one cares, if they did you’d shut down all reearch in the company immediately and fire or restaff the employees to more useful thinngs.

Turns out the “followers” in management fail to inspire us to our greatest potential.

This company is riding on the coattails of the “true” O&G GOATS.
