Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Who can even replace LBT?

Let's say he does quit (he won't, but let's say he does). Who can replace him? Who would even want to take this mess on?

Eddie Lampert, the guy who broke up Kmart has free time.

The names change but the story remains the same:

What led to the downfall of Kmart?
In 2002, Kmart declared bankruptcy as Walmart and Target devoured its market share. Its website never took off, allowing Amazon to beat it in the e-commerce space. There were executive pay scandals, a purchase by a hedge fund manager who stripped it bare and a disastrous 2005 acquisition of Sears.

There would be some placeholder CEO like Super Dave or MJ, but that is just to be there while the Board breaks up the company and sells it off.

No, seriously.

MJ can turn around Intel if anyone can

I don’t think you understand the gravity of the situation. Intel is DONE. The CEO will not be replaced. It’s all bankruptcy and Government takeover from here on out.

He was never here to save Intel. At best he was taking over to delay another year to enrich the upper management. It was to give time to prepare exit plans and work on their golden parachutes.

@OP TACO already knows (or I'm sure his administration knows) who should replace him.

He will have no choice but to leave. Else TACO will open an investigation on him and family.

@a4 Oh, TSMC will take it, and they will be happy.

They would only get the EUV fabs and TD, likely still as part of a deal to break up IFS and spin it off.

Some of the smaller foundries might get involved, to show they are investing in the US, to avoid tariffs. They would take all the older fabs.

Broadcom, Qualcomm, AMD and others would pick over ProdCo.

Keep in mind that each of these companies would acquire the asset and then shed about half of the employees, so what looks bad now is quickly made good.

If this is done in bankruptcy, then that makes it even easier to disassemble, with no legal recourse, and it wipes out all obligations.

This is very much like what has happened to other companies which became insolvent. In this case it is forced by the removal of the CEO, but the debt level is also high.

@a2 TSMC wouldn’t take Intel even for free, because they knew Intel is a black hole and anything su-ked in would be gone forever!

The Board has a plan, but it does not involve OP.

A. TSMC
B. Broadcom

Maybe a few other smaller companies when the Board breaks the company up in a prearranged bankruptcy.

This is not trolling, it is what they were going to do if LBT did not choose to take the job.

Remember all the rumors earlier in the year?

This is about to get very real, like what happened to PGE employees when Enron imploded.

Those who kept their jobs are still working, because they lost pensions, retirement, stock, everything else but their job, then got their remaining benefits slashed.
