Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Right-sizing ESRO From the Past

While Gretchen is out, the vestiges of her time are still running rampant. We have all these so-called GRC people who have been placed in positions best filled by technical people or the people you laid-off with technical skills:

IT Project Manager >> Segment Information Security Officer (no security certs or hands on tech skills
Associate Project Manager >> Sr Mgr Info Security Risk (no security certs or hands-on tech skills but he is Offshore in India
Business Analyst >> Senior Information Security Risk Auditor (expired certifications)
Auditor Ernst & Young, India >> Director Info Security Risk Management (no certifications, degree or hands-on technical skills)
Accounts Receivable Accountant >> Director Information Risk Management (no certifications or hands-on technical skills)
Risk Assurance Associate >> VP IT Security - Information Risk Governance (expired CPA and no hands-on technical skills)

The list goes on and on and on. The people who succeed as not those with the skills, training or education. They are mostly unqualified men who leaders would rather hire and promote than qualified women.

ERSO is about the right size, it's just had the wrong people running it.

Politics has no place in any company. Only those who are weak resort to politics.

I remember Gretchen’s teams were highly political. Glad she’s gone. There was a major breach 6 years ago and her team stopped technical teams from restoring full systems before the ransomeware. We could have fully restored and cleared the ransomeware but she only wanted PwC vendor and lawyers to collect evidence. Thousands of patients were impacted all because her ineptitude to see the big picture. Those “leaders” and associated security team are still in charge. That resulted in CHC. ESRO ended up paying the randaomeware and now we are impacting millions of lives and laying employees after CHC. UHG has really incompetent leaders and pay them to lose money. There is no accountability when they spend money and we don’t recover ROI. No one seems to care the lack of accountability for these failed strategies and incompetence in basic operational support

@OP no one really understands that department… ESRO is a department where d-mb people go. There are some talented people there but wow… there are some really big egos. Glad that Gretchen and Nico were fired! My team were so trusted with Nico and his team due to politics he would play. My team does depend and partner with security engineering and the lack of professions is crazy!
