Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

It's demoralizing seeing others get light oversight

I hate seeing others come in at random times to the office, but not coffee badging. On the contrast, I am required to come in at 8am sharp, have a 30-45 minute lunch and leave at 5pm. My team literally eats a f**ing plate of rice or a sandwhich the portion of an elementary school kid would eat for lunch then gets back to work. I don't even bother, I am no slob to be eating fast. I constantly see other teams talking about the upcoming NFL season, baseball games, concerts, and my team nothing. I constantly see others arriving at 7:50, 8:50, 8:16, 9:12, but I have to be in 8am. My team and manager doesn't let me get least 30 minutes off for saying let me leave at 4:30pm instead of 5pm so that I have time to arrive to my doctor's office at 5:30pm for his late day of the week. My team takes a day off for that.

I don't mind 5 days in office in this market, but please let me a little wiggle room. Let me come in 8:13 one day, 7:30 another, and maybe 8:45 for another and leave at 5pm or close to it. Let me eat lunch once every other month for an 1hr and a half to socialize with former coworkers at other firms since my team doesn't socialize.

Jaime Dimon said I am free to leave in this market and it's my job to find that balance and he's got a point. What I can't wrap my head around is that people enjoy this?

People come in at 930-10 everyday and leave at 4. Those same people take 1.5 hours for lunch. But, beware , WADU is watching ! They’re going site by site!

Let's not forget now, that

"Nothing is faster than the speed of human interaction", according to our esteemed leader so people talking about the upcoming NFL season, baseball games, concerts are right in line and exhibiting the "new speed, energy, and passion" that leadership requires.

Seems like those folks are the ones adopting the new values, and they should be commended for their unwavering commitment to excellence.

Nope. First off, I've never adopted a su-kup attitude like "I don't mind 5 days in office in this market". I do mind every day of this horsesh-t. Victims and losers put on cheery faces as they get the shaft.

Secondly, I don't bother with what others do. I do as little work as possible, try my best to contribute to delays, misunderstandings, omissions, etc. and that's it.

Others can do as they please, especially if their activities are to the detriment of the enterprise.

Probably first one complaining if you were in his shoes. What I find fascinating, is the wide spectrum of work culture at this firm. I would suggest find external opportunities, but if not do internal. All teams are not like this, but I assume some are similar.

"I don't mind 5 days in office in this market"

You come off as a schmuck. No wonder you take the short end of the stick day in and day out.

This isn’t bank wide and is a local problem with your team. Sometimes it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. We get something like 90hrs of sick time and 160hrs of PTO! Use it.

I work from home full time so I don’t have the same perspective as you which more so supports this isn’t Jamie Dimon or chase, but instead your manager

You, and only are in charge of your own fate. Not sure what your role is and if the time constraints you have are part of it. If you had the same job in another bank, would the situation be different? And if you had the same job in another industry, would you have more free time and constraints?
