Heard a rumor there is talk of changing all Software Engineer job titles in Optum to "Prompt Engineer".
Anyone else heard this? I cant believe how crazy this place is getting. Are they okay with IT just crashing and burning and the money printer turning off?
There isnt a single day to day task that any of the stuff im learning in the "AI Dojo" could apply to.
@OP Exactly, re AI Dojo. While some of it is definitely informative, overall it's a one size fits all and that simply doesn't work. Not everyone is an SWE and even if they are, that doesn't mean every single one is working on AI agents or an AI model. It's a joke and to serve what purpose?
Sounds like these people will be training AI to replace employees. I wonder how they sleep at night. Sociopaths employed by sociopaths. Great.
I haven’t heard this but this isn’t the first time they have done title changes. They asked everyone 2 years ago if they wanted to switch their title to AI Engineer. No training was required they just asked people to do it. Then they bragged about how many AI engineers they had at the company in shareholder calls and in the media. Were those people actually doing AI work or know how to do it… no.
It’s fraud plain and simple. That’s why I don’t trust people that have AI engineer titles because most of them were given without merit.
