I was a full time Project Manager at work today for Citi and received an IM from my MGR who was told to read me a script by Citi HR department stating that due to Citi restructuring my position was being eliminated. I've been a full time employee there for almost 7 years. Just know that no one in corporate America is safe!

Good luck. Same happened to me a few years ago. And of course all my cohorts who said they would keep an eye in any openings totally sold me out, probably because they were so stressed on keeping their own jobs

I feel for you, but you have to understand that what happened in the past 15+ years was an aberation - printing of money by the central banks. That increased the number of bullsh-t jobs like yours and at some point people with Mickey Mouse degrees were getting 200k for managing / recruiting / whatever. It is just not normal. Just accept you will probably never ever work for such money anymore, hope you were wise and saved some. Good luck.

@cx I think he means that the manager IM’ed him to come to a call.
This seems completely false message. No Manager in Citigroup will convey special messages through IM. In fact, you can report this if he does. At the minimum, he should convey through zoom/phone if you are remote or not in office. If Manager is not capable of conveying this a senior manager should convey.
Which location and how much severance are you getting? How many weeks of pay?
