@OP Exxon is an easy paycheck. So is every other O&G office job.
The hardest part is the commute. The actual “work” usually entails bouncing spreadsheets around and updating vendor equipment purchase specs. Not a bad trade off for banking $200k+ annual base salary in Swampwater, USA.
Unless you're working in India, I don't even think it even qualifies anymore as a stepping stone.
