Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Ranking NSI

I am a ExxonMobil employee that works at a JV under a non exxonMobil supervisor, my ranking was carried out by a ExxonMobil supervisor who I’ve never worked for nor had I ever even met them before. The first time I met them was when they gave me the NSI news. I’ve always been ranked pretty high and this was the first year I worked under a non Exxon supervisor and somehow I dropped straight to NSI, no NI just straight to NSI. How in the h3ll does this make sense?

same thing here. they have raised the bar 10x for ratings levels in order to push people out and avoid paying bonus.

Sad to see these posts and people wondering why everything is so out of whack these days. The reality is that we are witnessing massive organizational decline. The numbers are all being dialed down. This is what it looks like. Main question is , "What is the planned end game?".

oh yeah the NEW AND IMPROVED ranking system added these fun new "features:

  • You can go from the highest ranking to NSI in a single cycle. No longer are there protections against a biased supervisor.
  • The "NSI" equivalent in the former ranking system was usually reserved for really poor performers and putting someone there was at managers discretion most years. When the new system was rolled out that got set at a mandatory 3% every year. and before it was implemented it got upped to 8% (but it is not a headcount reduction strategy!!!)...and is now at 5%..it will likely never be the 3% we were told it was going to be.

Talk to your supervisors manager. Bypass your Supervisor. then talk to HR. Did you get promoted into different rank group??? normally RG drops more than 15% are reviewed by HR...and may indicate bias. But if you are in a new RG group, then drops over 20% are common. Manager and HR can clarify this...IF not insist on a move back into a situation with XOM superviors. Then make them work NSI is alot of work for XOM supervisors.

Its time to NSI Darren's a-s. I feel bad for anyone who gets NSI and NI. Teamwork doesn't flourish under this system period. It's them, not you man!

A common human factor is that it is easier to throw someone you do not know under the bus.
That supervisor chose you because you are a stranger and also losing you has no direct impact on his team.
I have seen this before. Very likely that you outperformed several of his close team, but you were the easy target emotionally.

Someone has to get NSI in the rank and the ones who are unpopular normally gets them.

Sadly this is sometimes the result when we have employees that are Secondees into JV. In the past they individuals used to be deemed.

Someone has to do bad regardless if you did bad or not. Yes it's BS.

They changed the rules a few years back. You used to only be allowed to drop one bucket at a time.

Ain’t it great.

This sounds strange to me. I have always been ranked by the direct supervisor. Even when I was piped it was the a hole supervisor that did not like me. I dropped just like you I was always excellent or good and then dropped to nsi. I must have missed a spot on the bosses a ss that year. This sound efed up to me.
