Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

Execs got canned this weekend

I had a meeting this morning with Tricia the CPO of Five9, but was told that she is no longer with a company. Rumor is that several people got let go this weekend including high-level EVPs.

@OP Tragic that Mike is holding on by a thread and firing everyone else when he should've been gone a long time ago. What's worse than the bad decision making by Mike is the culture he creates. Back stabbing, lying, and talking cr-p about people. His wife is famous for this too, even about his own family member, now long gone by Mike too. Lots of scapegoats... no accountability. If only Rowan didn't leave...Mike could learn a thing or two from him.

Even taking in some repeat viewers, media and competitors, a huge proportion of Five9 staff are reading this.

@az How do you know this will happen?

@a6 Wrong. People here have been asking for Mike to be let go. Not "all of the execs."

Dignan will be the next CEO (this year) but only temporary because he's moving into the Sale (this year). The people who came over from Cisco (and Genesys to a degree) will get big payouts off of their RSU's at close, and then go on to the next company. You know who they are. Regular employees will likely get shafted in the sale, with a few asked to stay on for a set period of time as part of transition.

The best advice is to heed all of the glaring red flags and get out.

I was growing concerned that a Tuckness brother hadn’t gotten an undeserved promotion in at least four weeks.

I for one will congratulate whoever made this decision (Mike?) where credit is due. This is a good move.

All this is an obvious prelude to a sale

@a6 Any layoff is unfortunate - we’re human, we should empathise with anyone who know has to figure out how to pay their mortgage.

But, the reality is we all know who actually needs to go. I’m not saying this was bad - but the person who had the authority to do this is the same person putting us in this position where the company has to layoff people.

Anyone who was let go in the exec team is a shame, but at the same time it’s their own bed they’re made that they now lie in. A stealth layoff by the guy causing our problems with no communication or plans to replace them is equally as heinous.

Tricia probably got fired for sourcing and hiring terrible leadership such as folks in sales, the CPO, and the recent unhappiness of employees from surveys that she didn’t even have anything to do with. It is likely a scapegoat.

@a6 - no, this commenter is saying that this specific layoff is extremely alarming as it shows limited new hiring strategy for the US region. You can be positive all you want, but it is probably better for us to be safe, protected and proactive as employees first.

It’s kind of ironic. All of these threads for the last six months are talking about how exec need to be let go. And now that execs are being let go you’re saying that it’s time to leave.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense unless you’re just a negative naysayer and want to have something to complain about
