I agree, but don't confuse us 'rank and file' employees with the terrible management of Doug. Many of us were forced over to his departments from Ford Blue. We all aren't his loyal subservients; many of us are just trying to keep our jobs.

Reorg us back into Ford Blue.

@gg Explains why Palo Alto has meeting rooms named after Star Wars, free snacks and a game area.

@g0 Point was, the people who came from Tesla or Rivian would likely not return. Tesla already peaked, Elon's actions are one thing but China is far surpassing Tesla for the global market and even domestically, the competition is increasing as market share diminishes.

Rivian won't survive and in comparison, the culture is worse than Ford. Layoffs come and go like the wind, with no viable product line. Their upcoming R2/R3 won't be sub $35K and with the incentive going away, they are sc--wed to keep burning cash.

Ford and the Skunkworks are actually very late in the game and other brands are coming in faster. Domestically Ford is probably in a good position if they can control recalls since ICE is still a thing. If the Skunkworks project fails to impress when it launches, I would not be shocked to see a Tesla merge with GM or Ford, probably Ford since Elon loves the fact Ford did not file BK.

Great post, this is a lighthearted one, but still one of many reasons DF is one of the best leaders we have at Ford.

The bunny slippers thing started early in DF's tenure during the original RTO. He was pushing back on Fords dress code, and said it doesn't matter if you come in wearing pink bunny slippers, as long as you show up and be productive. Looking at the way he dresses, you can tell he doesn't care. I've never seen him in a sport coat or tie. It's one of the few things I agree with him on.

@a4

The bunny slippers are literal. Watch DF's town hall videos for the white bunny slippers in the background. The first few times they appear someone in the chat or another presenter mentions them.

@em why would most people not go back to Tesla or Rivian? Everyone knows about Tesla work culture, how they treat safety concerns, whistleblowers, and all that. I haven't heard so much about Rivian. Do they have the same issues as Tesla?

@eg There is no place else to go in Long Beach or SoCal in general for automotive. Most who are all in with the automotive career have already done the Tesla and Rivian stint and would not go back. DF will not leave the SF Bay Area, and the only reason Palo Alto exists is because of him. People do leave the Skunkworks, and many will in 2026. Retention is going to be a big issue. Some have left within a year or more and returned to the SF Bay Area because the job market here is not lucrative, and they worked for a FAANG previously and miss the bennies and equity. Ford equity refreshers are very poor and there are plenty of middle and senior managers who are way too empowered who don't know what they are doing, add in several TPMs and people just coasting and are rarely in the office because their boss works out of the Palo Alto office. September and RTOIV will come and I'm sure it will be business as usual and accountability will not be held along with wearing your badge.

It won’t happen until Farley and Field are gone. They put all their eggs in that future basket. That would admit failure which they are incapable of doing.

CE1 will launch late and overpriced as it stands right now. It won’t get dealer support since tax credits will be gone and EPA mandates on FE will likely be eased. They will push what is comfortable and that is what consumers will buy. Field will get his grift payday and move on. Hopefully Farley is gone too. And Alan Clark.

Lot of the CE1 team are “job hopers” so my guess is many of them will springboard that to someplace else and the rest will be folded into rest of Ford or let go.

That’s what I think. Maybe wishful thinking though.

@OP

Ford will and is struggling to hire new professionals. Getting rid of the ones they have will result in them having to choose LCC "expertise". I can tell you this: You think it's bad now? just wait 5 years until someone is buying out the remaining carcass of what is left. It May happen to Stellantis before that. GM laying off a massive amount of cybersecurity people also speak volumes about where their priorities are at. Apparently GM isn't serious about one of the most brutal things that will burn a company's reputation to the ground these days. Good Luck Mary! Ford has it's own problems with bleeding cash and punishing the opposite people responsible for failure.

Ford is all about fooling customers with paid ads and stories. It starts with job postings. It's likely U.S. taxpayers will end up bailing them out again, either by burdening future generations with more debt or by diverting resources through overseas conflicts, often at the sacrifice of other people's lives and brainwashing the domestic audience from all media sources.

Without even so much as the EV credits, let alone the sweeping Green New Deal nationwide mandate Ford was positioning for, Model E is a dead man walking.

DF normally wears sneakers the few times he has been spotted. Look like running or hoka style.

I don't get his bunny slippers comment, since it goes against his RTO rant:

The phrase "bunny slippers" in a tech context often carries a metaphorical meaning rather than a literal one. It generally alludes to the informality, comfort, and sometimes even the detachment associated with remote work or the casual work culture of the tech industry.
