Thread regarding Optum layoffs

When will it be enough?

Am I the only one who's ready to walk out because I can't take the stress of constant layoffs anymore? This is not healthy. This is destroying my mental, and in turn physical, health. I understand that job security is a rare thing these days, but this is the complete opposite. There must be some kind of a middle, if we're to remain sane.

@d8 I am sorry you were impacted yesterday. Thank you for your post because you are so right. I was debating to wait for the next round knowing I would be on it because I’ve been with the company for a while but our mental health is worth so much more and this place is so toxic.

@OP I agree. I was one of the people let go, and although it was unexpected waking up today I am relieved. This company is horrible to work for.

I was one of the people layed off on yesterday. The situation may feel uncomfortable now, but it was the best thing that happened to me personally. This company does not appreciate people. They were treating the offshore people better than they were treating the onshore people. They took all of our roles, and sent them offshore right in front of us, and did not care how that made us feel. Most of my peers stuck around, because they dedicated years to a company, that had treated them like this a few times laying off and then retracting the decision without any regard to they're mental health. To all that lost they're roles yesterday, you deserve better, and many doors will open for you. To the ones that are left behind, I pray that your days not be stressful. I am no hateful person, I am a real human being that cares about people beyond what I felt this job gave to us that worked hard. From what I witnessed the accounts are poorly worked by the offshore. They have no idea what they are doing performing this job, and many of us witnessed everyday reading notes on the accounts so on to the greatest next thing. Things that are built on poorness will not prosper at all.

You are not the only person that feels this way. Many of us are just completely fed up with Optum/UHG. Has to be the worst place I have ever worked, even Target Corp was better than this place. Plus better benefits when I worked there. Optum has the worst healthcare benefits I have ever come across and the most expensive I have ever seen with really lame coverage, it’s the worst. I figured this would be a good place to work up to retirement, nope as the stress is so destructive to health and wellbeing. They know exactly what they are doing to us and obviously do not care. As my manger told the team we are just numbers here, nothing more than that so get use to it. That was the moment I gave my two weeks notice. Life is much better after shedding this horrible company from my life.

Anyone have luck getting out of paying sign on bonus back if leaving prior to time commitment. Can’t work like this anymore with lay offs every 2/3 months.

Everyone should pray that UHG gets caught by the DOJ cause if they finally stop with the BS and put their big boy pants and just give the money back, they will be put under an integrity contract and that my colleagues will prevent them from laying off people for about 5 years because right now they lay everyone off as a tool to meet their earning quarter to quarter. They are about as interested in helping people live better lives as a coyote in the hen house. So if anyone knows shady. Speed dial it over to those in the Medicare fraud line.

its just a check. I just dont care and cash them. After more than a decade of 4 layoff rounds a year one becomes immune. Its not like the world will end if the work does not get done.

Welcome to Managed Care Organization life. It’s the same at all the other MCO’s with layoffs every quarter. They all have this same layoff site, go check them out. If you want job security go work for a hospital or government organization. I never experienced regular layoffs (or layoffs at all) until I entered the work from home MCO world.

No I’m right there with you and if I didn’t have a family depending on me, I’d walk today.

I’ve taken all that frustration and put it into finding a new job. The market is terrible. I’ve applied to 100 places in the past 2 months. Finally getting a few interviews. I know it’s hard and we’re already so burned out at the end of the day but you have to push through and get yourself out.
