It’s not like any of us have a real shot at a future here once the deal goes through.

@js Not at all. Walgreen's will always have people/workers. Because there are always people looking for jobs that other companies won't hire..but walgreens will hire, as they will hire anyone. And for the ones that work at Walgreen's most companies won't hire them away/or take any interest in them if they apply. They are perfect for Walgreen's and will go down with the Walgreen's ship soon as the Vultures buy them out and deplete it.
You all expect that walgreens should have ZERO workers right now. I think that is unrealistic to expect a company with 10,000 locations to not have any person whatsoever want to show up for work. That doesn't make sense to me.
If you have left the company, good for you. Why are you so mad about people who choose to still work at Walgreens. That seems like a weird place to put your energy. It does however, allow you to be sanctimonious and artificially 'smart' looking?
@OP Totally agree and yet this company still hires store manager unassigned(SMU) and say these are some great ones wanting to work at Walgreens. Seriously? Why would you want to go to work as a manager at Walgreen's when all this stuff is about to happen. I know why, because no one else would hire that person but Walgreen's. And Walgreen's is so desperate to hire outiside the company because they can't train anyone within the company worthwhile. How pathetic. So they go outside and find people that no one else wants anyways. How brilliant is that. And then brag them up. Too funny...actually how sad.
People have left Walgreens. In fact, most of Walgreens workforce has already left. Stores are staffed about 10% of what they were. 90% of people are gone already.
If you don’t like it leave. Stop acting like your situation is like everyone else’s.
The retirement excuse has been heard and heard and heard. There aren't many that can retire at Walgreens to begin with. Also why one would still work for a company like Walgreen's to just hold on to retire is quite sad. And also to hope for a severance pay for being laid off is ridiculous. They don't them in a leverage buyout takeover. So planning to retire but wait to see if you are laid off first.....speaks volumes. Oh get laid off and then retire? Why not retire now then. Doesn't make any sense, oh wait a Walgreen's emplyee maybe it does.
I am planing on retiring but I'll wait an see if I get laid off first. Might as well get a severance payout on my way out.
It's the best that most of Walgreen's employees can get...just be honest about it. And they will stay until the vulture company buying out walgreen's tells them to go.
