Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Job offer from BP…

Current Chevron employee here, about to receive a job offer from BP in Houston.
I am leaving Chevron because of the unbearable toxic environment that the recent reorg has created.
But I haven’t been reading many encouraging things here either.
Am I jumping from the frying pan to the grill?

Former Chevron employee currently at BP. I find it considerably better at BP, but that may largely be because I moved from Upstream to Downstream.

People at bp, in GoM at least, openly talk about how much better Chevron seems. Do with that what you will.

@OP 100% agree with all above. The India drive is unreal and not slowing down. I have survived current rounds but know my days numbered.
If I get through 2026 I be lucky !
I think world of EPCs and Contracting is more favorable. There is ZERO loyalty in being staff at an Operator now !!!

Every major has a dumpster fire on these sites. Everyone’s moving jobs to a low cost country with a disconnected leadership. Do you want a blue dumpster or a green one? Hopefully the green one is paying you more with a boss you like.

I thought there was a freeze on external hiring, especially as they move roles to india, and try to find roles for those impacted.

Appears this is just another lie being told to employees...

Most all corporations are toxic because they are ran by wall street but that's where the money is. If you want to work for someone that cares, work for a private company.

Btw I’m the current employee. It’s possible the reason why bp is hiring you is because the existing employee left for the greener pasture for the reasons cited below and you are filling in the gap, unless you are working for very niche areas in GoA where the firm is advertising it’s expanding.

bP is truly and royally fooked. morale su-ks, company had shrunk massively over past 20 years, future is bleak, execs are mo--ns and only goal is to send jobs to India. this is not a horse to bet on. this is a horse headed to the glue factory.
