Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What does having a sponsor mean?

I am in the Upstream and have been with the company 7 years. I have done well within the confines of the racking system...bouncing around between excellent & outstanding.

I was told this cycle I have a few high-level sponsors within the company. What does that mean? Are they just people who like me? Or is this a real thing that can affect my ranking and role placement within the corporation? Is this an "on the record" kind of thing or totally "off the record"?

It means one or more mangers have noticed that vicious little smirk you have when someone else makes an error or is belittled.
It's a tight bunch. Welcome aboard!

Your supervisor seems to be blowing smoke up your a$$. If you had a real sponsor you would know who they are and be meeting with them regularly. Smoke and mirrors is what you have.

Until you start seeing good promotions / role changes, it does absolutely nothing other than a dangling carrot.

If you're a true hipo with a sponsor you're part of an actual mentorship program that would be very clear to you.

@OP racking system? As you can’t spell you probably don’t need to worry about having a sponsor
