Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Have The Tariffs Made Your Plant Busier or Slower

Just curious where this economy is heading and if we will see hiring or layoffs? Are US plants actually expanding? Is business coming back from China? Bill Brown said we will start feeling the tariff impact in H2.

Did anyone really think tariffs were going to suddenly increase manufacturing in the US? More likely to push us into a recession and more layoffs and closures.

Another thing for Kelly B to hide behind.

600 million hit in revenue in the worst case scenario and 200 to 300 million in the best case scenario .....according to BB in the last townhall meeting.

Hail to the chief ..... Hope you like your TACOs.

Loadings are very light in the Asia plants. CFO had first hand witness to feel the emptiness of the production floor during his visits. Let's see if there will be any changes to the volumes over second half of the year

@OP No new investment in years, and the new product trials stopped years ago. Engineering/lab was cut to minimum, seems like just to maintain and no consideration for growth. I am guessing overseas received all the investment in modern equipment.

Tariffs will cost hundreds of millions to M3 according to BB. BB talked of plants consolidating a few quarters ago, "with some already in flight". He did talk about the 38 larger plants that make the majority of the product amongst the 110 plants. Watching some product lines In my plant suddenly sit idle for 3 to 4 days st a time concerns me. It certainly is not the old M3.

I am working in one of the top 38 factories, and the plant utilization is poor. At most running half of the time. Things are not looking good internally as they are asking to cut inventory and defer vendors supplies.

In an environment where many can’t see beyond the end of their noses, ie this quarter, it’s weird to hear a term like H2. That’s like long term planning in comparison.

Way slower.

Really wanted to believe that they were going to bring manufacturing back home, but that's definitely not the case.
