Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

What happened to SF?

Been here 15 years and the last few years have been next-level dysfunction. Constant reorgs, zero communication, and whiplash "priorities" that change weekly. New hires think this chaos is normal, that's how long this circus has been running. At this point I just assume every meeting invite is bad news.

Today was the first day in over 4 years that either State Farm or HCL didn't pay me nearly $70/hour to ur my grass.

I've recently lost my cushy WFH job that I spent over 2 hours a day (most days) actually working and not watching TV or going for long walks .

Does anyone have any pointers on how to get by?

I'm going to have a couple more hours of free time and I won't need to check my computer screen every 30 minutes to see if someone sent some "important" email that I must read.

So thank you for being here and definitely enjoy your week as a 31-year employee I couldn't agree more right now I am being" performance managed quotation marks by a person who started is a CA became a team lead and a hub then became a claim specialist for a year and a half then left the company and only returned 3 years later as a team manager personally no respect secondly he is on a total Power Trip and is trying to tear me down and break me down in the last 8 months of my employment before retirement. Loyal employee since 1995 my work ethic is nothing compared to what they are hiring today.
Whatever and it's like really I feel like I am one of the many they can't wait to get rid of and honestly I can't wait to be done with them eight more months then I will get my pension and my social security and 401k if I need it I used to love State Farm but now not so much

This post is spot on. Every meeting I assume more bad news. Direction seems to change daily. Constant reorganizations, rumors, moves, with no transparency. Spot on with the whiplash priorities that seem to change daily. Constant micromanagement and to the point they are listening to and critiquing our calls. No trust to let us do our jobs. Its a completely miserable company with no direction known, no transparency, no honesty. Mgmt talks out of both sides of their mouths. We need you. We want everything in the hubs. Your important but not enough for promotions. Do more, do less, customer service is down and its the employees fault. This place is insane.

To the person talking about company worth now; you are correct, what kind of world do you want to live in? One driven by empathy or greed?

Reminds me of Bill Burr talking about billionaires being as they think they do not have enough.

Tipsord was a culture destroyer. It is undeniable, especially to those who worked at the company under Uncle Ed. Tipsord stated that insurance is going thru disruption, so we may as well disrupt ourselves. Paraphrasing. Did the net worth increase? Yes, hugely, but at what cost? He did understand the need to modernize, but this has been an ongoing effort since 2014. Integrated customer platform, anyone? Built new hubs, ran off experienced talent.

Some people use "toxic" and "chaos" as excuses when they are being performance-managed. But, at State Farm, these words truly describe the environment. I've been there more than 25 years and it doesn't even look like the same company. One would hope that a company would grow and mature over time, but State Farm has slipped into total dysfunction. It's hard to pinpoint one cause or source, but the old adage is still true - everything comes down from the top. Amongst all the toxicity, HR is probably the worst department. You might never see it, but if you ever cross paths with them, good luck. They are not your friend and they are not on your side. It's really said because I plan on finishing out my career here, but it will be interesting to see how much farther they can deteriorate.
