Children's hospital at SAS Campus Drive?

Children's Hospital looking for 100 acres near I-40 for their site.

Wonder if JG has considered selling a 100 acre slice of Cary Campus with buildings. Existing square footage more than ample for an ever declining headcount. Factor in WFH and one must wonder how little space is truly needed.

"If you search for "Reedy Creek Properties" in Wake County's GIS, you'll see that they have purchased all but one of the properties on Richard Drive.

In the last six months, they bought three of these properties for over $1,000,000 each."

Very interesting find; well done! Something is definitely in the works and makes me very curious as to what it could be.

If I was one of the remaining I’d sell my house for 5 million! 😆

I wonder if this is another hint the company is being sold. SAS certainly doesn’t need to build MORE buildings to house employees, the current ones are mostly empty. A buyer could take the technology and JG would keep the land for the hospital?

If you search for "Reedy Creek Properties" in Wake County's GIS, you'll see that they have purchased all but one of the properties on Richard Drive.

In the last six months, they bought three of these properties for over $1,000,000 each.

Richard Drive is adjacent to buildings E, F, H, and J. Reedy Creek Properties can now offer one large contiguous parcel.

Are you trying to sell subscriptions to TBJ by linking to something that we cannot read?

wouldn't surprise me to see a hospital show up on campus. there's already a mini one at hcc so why not? then the Goodnites could name various wings after themselves.

Having a hospital on SAS land is no more far fetched than having a school on SAS land. Or a hotel.

Lay offs have become an ongoing repetitive process. That creates a declining population density per acre of SAS land. It is not far fetched to believe that at some point the land and buildings will be repurposed. Whether or not it a hospital fits into the equation is anyone's guess. Jim is a very smart man and likely will play his cards close to his vest.

Regarding those empty buildings at SAS HQ...

SAS unsuccessfully dipped their toes into the commercial real estate market by trying to rent them. Seems that rightfully become a cease and desist effort.

It was a good idea but targeted to the wrong audience.

Proposal: rent those empty offices and conference rooms to employees to use as climate controlled storage via payroll deduction. That would be a great way to cover the utilities and cost of security staff associated with monitoring empty buildings. A great example where an employee is your best customer for making lemonade out of lemons!!!

"Reedy Creek Properties(real estate arm for SAS) just bought an early 1970s brick ranch house on Richard Drive(adjacent to SAS Campus Drive.). The house with1.2 acre lot sold for a whopping 1.2 million."

If more land is wanted, why not just demolish an empty building such as the moldy Bldg H? Letting it sit empty costs alot of money. Would 1.2 million dollars cover that demo job?

Allowing empty relics of former greatness to stand empty is not a path towards future greatness.

Puzzling why a shrinking company having several empty office buildings is doing a land grab. Could this be related to a hospital in some unimaginable way?

Is the land and buildings of the SAS Campus for sale separately from the actual sale/IPO of the software company itself? If "no" then it doesn't matter how good or bad this idea is because it is a moot point. If "yes" then a sale/IPO becomes more appealing to a buyer not interested in having Cary as headquarters.

Hey @OP+1jrr6qqez,
That is a question for Dr. Goodnight. You should ask him. His email address is in the GAL.
