Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

DEI on its way out

Rumor has it that the legal team has informed Mike that it will be cheaper to dismantle DEI than pay for the lawsuits coming because of the practices within.

SLT has agreed to follow other big tech names and move on. Soon!

Based on what I've heard, they're doing the opposite by taking a similar approach as Costco and Apple.

This post in another thread pretty much predicted what they're doing.

"Yeah, DEI’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Like, unless we get rid of anti-discrimination laws, which… yeah, not happening. You can tell it’s still a thing just by all the “people strategy” and “belonging” stuff we are still pushing.

I think we’ll probably hear something soon about how we're still committed to it, but we might not talk about it as much out in the open. And if people start complaining too much, we’ll probably just rebrand it or call it something else. Same idea, different name."

Some of these comments didn't age well with the new COO announcements.

Funny how some folks in here love to wave the flag for military and veterans but then turn around and trash the very programs that actually help vets transition back to civilian life. DEI initiatives have been a lifeline for a lot of service members trying to find their footing after serving, giving them opportunities they might not have had otherwise. But sure, let’s act like tearing all that down is somehow 'supporting the troops.'

If you’re gonna virtue signal about how much you care about veterans, maybe take a second to think about whether scrapping these programs actually helps them or just makes it harder for them to get a fair shot. Just saying.

I wish more people talked about the retail directors that were promoted solely because there weren't enough female minorities directors in role. This was about 6-7 years ago. The individuals were mediocre lowly ranked DMs in their roles and I can think of 4 back to back promotions because of the need for the merger to go through and to push numbers up. This was not at all based on performance but rather to check boxes. It's unfortunate because many people who were deserving of these roles were overlooked. Behind closed door conversations of SLT group needs to get exposed. T-Mobile's DEI program was created to keep retail employees quiet.

DE&I was the worst thing to happen to T-Mobile! I 1000X prefer to work my way up than to get hired or promoted because of entitlement or color of skin.

No H1-Bs on the SLT.
Surprising, considering these are elite human capital, after all.

Outright discrimination against thousands of employees? I notice there is not much diversity amongst the SLT.
