With VMware acquisition, Broadcom will get the early entry into the nascent market of Edge Computing stack and also as an added bonus Broadcom can proliferate their chips in the edge/IoT markets.
Broadcom will be really stupid to cut that business/BU methinks. But with Hock Tan, you never know :-|

So they will keep the SD-WAN/SASE BU you think?
SD-WAN at VMware is successful. SASE (the security part) is not. SASE at VMware is broken.
SASE overlaps with Symantec’s SASE offering, which actually is much better than VMS’s
SD-WAN SASE is profitable as someone mentioned. So I guess it is pulling its own weight.
If it ain’t pulling its weight now in profits.. forget it. Hock cares about cash flow and margin…

yes, the edge BU (Edge compute, SD-WAN/SASE) should be ok barring the bloated number of engineers.
