Ford employs approximately 87,000 employees in the U.S., including about 31,000 salaried employees, the company said Wednesday. The reduction of approximately 350 U.S. salaried employees equates to approximately 1% of the U.S. salaried population.

Soon they will build cars with people from McDonalds...it's cheaper...
"so don't be surprised if it turns out that 15-20% of the salaried staff gets cut by the end of the year."
We lost that from our group on Wednesday if you combine the cuts with the people relocated to other departments.
Last comment is spot on. But he/she/they forgot to mention the existential threat posed by the parents voicing their concerns to school board meetings about what's being taught in public schools.
You think 9 11 was te---r? You just wait and see the violence from the threats that myorkass is warning us about.
And thank you Bill for your efforts.
Don't think Ford should have entered the electric vehicle market. Ford should have focused 100% on the tried and true ICE. Electric vehicles are Tesla's domain. Ford never going to out sell Tesla in that market.
Bring back the highland green Bullitt
Curious where someone here came up with 75% off-shoring. That seems too drastic
The actual number that they laid off this week is 580 and mainly in engineering concentrated in Dearborn, so the effect will be much more closely felt. Also this is definitely going to be an ongoing thing every quarter or every few months so don't be surprised if it turns out that 15-20% of the salaried staff gets cut by the end of the year.
It was overstaffed / over hired anyway since corona came
They lie. It was 580. Why are agency not counted since those are still "job losses". With no backfill plan for that FTE.
Ford couldn't tell the truth right now to save the company!
My area lost 3. Sure doesn’t feel tiny…
LOL @OP
The end goal is 75% off shoring of white collar jobs by 2024. The play book is continual “small” reductions. So they can stay under the radar and continue to claim they are a US company.
Did you not listen to Hau and Kumar yesterday?
Tell that to the people that got let go. I'm sure your words of comfort will make them feel so much better.
That's the problem. MUCH more to come given exactly this.
