Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Anne Chow - is she finally getting laid off herself?

Has been wielding a hatchet her entire career. That’s all she’s done. Has never grown the business. After spin-off she’s gone. We might have gotten something right for a change.

"Most Officers at T have no respect for her or her work." You're bragging about most officers at T as a good thing, haha. If anything, she is the best of the worst (rest of the officers).

Tally so far is zero accomplishments. She will be terminated and take her millions with her.

The majority of true “special services” sells itself. I’m talking about point to point secure networks(via ASE/T1/DDS, etc) not the uverse cr-p that T seems to have a h@rd on for now. Fill in the blank national business doesn’t need a cold call from a T sales rep to know they need ASE to link all of their sites together; they also know they don’t need a wifi extender either.

It’s a mutually symbiotic relationship. Sales is revenue generating while operations, ie., field techs are cost centers—non-revenue generating . Both need each in order to contribute to the bottom line. But field techs often forget if the customer isn’t buying the complex, expensive, multi year contractual products, a lot of their jobs go away. Just my 2 cents.

Field techs are non-revenue generating organizations….not minimizing the relevancy, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’ve no argument.

I don't really have a dog in this hunt, but allow this. You can sell all of the services you want, but when it breaks, you might want to have the ability to restore it. I doubt if your sales model was "Well it works right now so keep sending us money even if it stops working 2 years from now" would last very long. I don't know, maybe this is how salespeople think. Ever wonder why there are car mechanics, 24 hour plumber services, electricians that the home owner can call to fix a problem in a 10 year old house? Things break and there is a need to fix said things. Complaining about having a portion of the workforce dedicated to fixing things is a poor argument.

What we expect to see is Chow and her team closing multi-year and multi million/billion deals with business customers. After all, they are in sales, selling is the job. Where are all these good news announcements?

What we do see is Chow showing up to internal meetings and social media, receiving many awards and rock star treatment. No beef with any of these, if any of these stuff help sales, keep the parade going.

From 2021 Annual Report
21 vs 20: Business Wireline Revenue -4.5%, Operating Income, -12.6%
20 vs 19: Business Wireline Revenue -3.2%, Operating Income, -11.2%

Not so rosy now, right? Revenue went down and income took a deeper dive.

Someone bright will point out the Mobility is accounted in a different category. Are there enough business customers buying mobility services to offset the negative trend? I don't have the data and will leave that to the insiders to make a claim.

When I was in PCG I had a $22M annual target in PCG….in 2010. That’s new revenue! So the field techs, ops people, store ASRs on this forum (especially the I/R techs who spend much of their time bashing organizations who keep this company a float like sales….when you criticize sales organizations, keep in mind, it’s only because of their sales that you still have jobs. Selling phones, accessories (or whatever they sell in retail stores), repairing and installing….none of that exists if sellers in business segments don’t grow the business…. FYI: That is partly what Anne Chow did best.

PCG Segment..:go look at her numbers 2009…forward and compare that to other business segments. Wait? You’ve no clue what that means?! If you don’t know what you’re talking about, get out of the lane. Hers was one of the few segments making money….
It’s important to remember sales organizations keep ATT in business. That is why Anne Chow got to her present position. Field techs are non-revenue generating organizations….not minimizing the relevancy, but you don’t know what you’re talking about. You’ve no argument.

Everyone is objecting to the comments that she has zero accomplishments. Yet they can’t name one. She’s tough, no nonsense, etc. but they can’t name one accomplishment. Believe me or not, I spent considerable time with the woman and speak from first hand experience. People who defend her blindly are the same dolts that endlessly read and comment on her dribble, non-ending and non-business related blogs. She’ll be gone soon and with good reason.

‘’I have worked with Anne’. Noticed the false sense of familiarity; which begs to question: What was your role? With the exception of a few folks who watch this forum for ‘entertainment’ like myself and was actually in the Chow organization when she ran PCG….as an earlier poster stated….You know nothing about her. She is/was one of the toughest, no nonsense leaders I’ve ever reported to. If you didn’t have an ‘A’ game, there was no need to show up. I can tell…you’ve never met the woman.

I have worked with Anne. Bright, engaging person but she has zero accomplishments. Couldn’t name one thing she’s done bit give people blenders and bicycles for selling. Time will prove out when she is terminated “to continue her work on inclusion blah blah blah”.

Anybody making these comments about Ms. Chow ever work for her—ever? I guarantee you that those of you slinging criticisms about her have never worked in global or enterprise sales or held an executive position. So you know nothing about her…except her ethnicity, her gender and perhaps you’ve some idea about her executive salary. Those three things…enough said!

Most Officers at T have no respect for her or her work. They’ve grown tired of the Wonder Woman costume and the self promotion. Also think her intelligence is over stated. She says. “Ok” when off script more than anyone.
