Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Ignorant, Hypocrites or perchance Cognitive Dissonance?

Awoke thinking about these infantile rants from current employees which infuriate me and have turned me into an ar-e in my posts. I won't continue exhibiting the same behaviour, but will recognise errant ideas or comments.

Logic would assert that many of the posters here are as much of Teradata's problem as the leadership they blame. It is for those individuals to discern if it is bone fide ignorance or willful hypocrisy. Just the same, if there are any who suffer cognitive dissonance, they should take a position and either choose to depart or sincerely choose to help Teradata.

To anyone who has decided that you can't or won't help, please leave and take your cancerous comments with you. Your posts here only serve to accentuate your ignoble intent to everyone outside your pitiful echo chamber.

NC has not responded lately so maybe he is learning something.

The guy comes in bragging about how many languages he speaks, says the strategy is what it is until he changes it, and speaks to everyone in a condescending tone. Immediately hires his old firm. Tries to take credit for the short-term stock rise. And wonders why nobody likes or respects him. And don’t blame it on anything else. Wake up SM - cut your losses and move him out.

Don’t kid you’d RG NC. Your rant is out of frustration at yourself. You just realised that recovering a failing business is not the same as waltzing into a business as a consultant with textbook ideas… go away

Excellent post. They set It up where if you call out poor performance they play the protected victim card. Personally I don’t want to hear about anyone’s se-ual identity, preference, habits, fantasies, partner activity, etc. at work. Straight, bi, or g-y. That’s private. Tell me how it’s relevant at work? NC spent 10 minutes on this stuff on a 30 minute business call and it was not appropriate or productive. Let’s just respectfully do our jobs and stop with all the social engineering efforts. Treat everyone equal.

Here's some cognitive dissonance for you. Its Schrodinger's cat, not Festinger's cat. Do you even know if Festinger had a cat? Since you apparently misinterpret facts, how can we trust your post?

I've just realized _why_ NC (and to some extent other ELT members) start with the diversity card. They know their own worth and they know it's mediocre. It's called the imposter's syndrome. So to survive, they take a preemptive action for when their incompetence will be (soon) exposed. And when the manure invariably hits the fan (just a question of time), they will have already framed the discussion in terms of discrimination and injustice. On their terms, _you can only lose_.
In their narcissistic delusion, it is even likely that when they are told "you are incompetent", what they hear in earnest is - "you worthless [fill in oppressed group as appropriate]". It's almost psychiatry
territory, beer and popcorn worthy. Regardless, we're grown-ups in a private commercial entity, so while I can somewhat detach myself from this psycho thriller as if it ran on Netflix, these dudes are purportedly giving us the North star and all, so all of the sudden the joke is on us. Bit if these guys are so lame - who pulls the strings? And to where?

You want to get really upset? Ask Finance to disclose how much we paid McKinsey the last twelve months. Add up NC’s comp, his team’s comp, plus McKinsey fees and you will be astounded. Then try to find an ounce of value. All while our rookie CEO outsourced strategy so he could be head diversity cheerleader.

This guy has only been here one year and he’s infuriated? He’s paid his McKinsey boys top dollar to do his job, even hired a few of them, and has delivered zilch. Conflict of interest?! And he’s mad? Guess what, I’m pi---d that these new “leaders” are making a ton of money, RIFing good hard working employees to pad their RSUs, adding no value, and getting paid to leave out the back door. None have any loyalty to Teradata. I bleed Orange but I’m done. C ya….

We’ve made some poor and d-mbfounded ELT hires the past few years, but NC is by far the worst. And I say this purely from a business acumen and ability to work with others perspective. He repels all those around him including his ELT peers. SM needs to admit his mistake and gracefully move NC out. And phase our McKinsey. I want us to succeed but these guys are a total distraction.

NC - when you get to your next company try to show some humility until you actually deliver some value. Then you may earn some respect.

This site is the closest TDC will ever get to a real employee survey. Most ELT members ignore true employee sentiment. It’s refreshing to see free speech alive and well and most of it is fairly respectful. A lot to be learned here.

This thread says it all. NC’s rant shows the real heart of the ELT who think the problems are with the employees. That’s why they don’t value long-term employees. The brain drain is ki----g us.

@OP+1drYebDl you sound infantile. Grow up a pair and learn that when you don't like what you see, smashing the mirror or calling people's opinions cancerous is at the emotional level of a toddler. I dare Teradata to distribute a truly anonymous survey, not the tracked BS they may use to punish honesty. Yeah you'd get a few off-topic rants - maybe, but what you'd mostly get are the inconvenient truths and even the odd idea for improvement. People complain because it hurts and nobody listens from those who can make a difference, not because it's some conspiracy of the evil, you pompous git.

Has to be NC. He’s in charge of strategy but asking you for a solution. I thought we paid McKinsey to give us solutions to our problems? 30+ “strategic work streams” to make it look like NC is accomplishing something yet nothing has changed. “We just need messaging by persona” or “verticalize” our messaging by industry. All total BS. We have one product and it’s legacy and hard to run in public cloud. We stink even though we fool Gartner to give us good ratings. No new customers will touch it.

Ah, brown nosing at its finest. This page allows current employees to tell the truth about TD outside of those fake “Most Ethical Company” awards. Glad we have an outlet, this page wouldn’t get so much traffic if TD wasn’t so sh---y to us.

The solution is move to a better run and positioned company, you can’t fix this sick dog. SB the part-time CTO was a cloud-denier and the BOD and other leaders were asleep at the wheel. Too late to fix past sins. GTFO

I get your point. Don't comlain; do somethin about the situation. But aren't you guilty of your same admonition, i.e., complaining but not offering a solution to the problem you descry.

You think anyone cares that you are infuriated? You surely don’t care how others feel. Leave your feelings and emotions out of this and focus on the business issues being discussed. If anyone should be infuriated it should be long-term employees who have endured the goat rodeo the last 5 years with one ELT bozo after another cycling through ruining the company’s chance of survival.

I’m amazed Pteradactl is still among the living. I guess they have enough cash to circle the drain for a long time. Nobody is going to buy them, so the end will be long, drawn out, and painful.

NC is definitely posting on here. Looks like he is realizing his “save the company” strategy is struck in neutral. What real change has NC and his McKinsey bros brought? Now he’s like Buzz Lightyear when he realized he wasn’t really a Space Ranger. NC take an exit package and go back to McKinsey. I’m sure they will give you a lucrative signing bonus based on all the $$$ you and SM threw them.

The truth hurts. And your cognitive dissonance shows since you are trapped in a bad company but don’t have the courage to admit it. Don’t get angry at people exercising their free speech. Despite all the people trying to cancel people they disagree with, the free exchange of ideas lives on in America.
