We all know how the ELT loves to virtue signal, demoralize and humiliate employees, and pump the stock price with constant layoffs. From that perspective, it seems a "get the vax or you're fired" mandate would tick all the right boxes. Anyone know if that is happening or planned? Been a few months since I left Teradata so I'm out of the loop.

6okl+1d5aHQhe The question you should be asking yourself is wtf are you still at Teradata?
Is this TheLayoff, or facebook?! Came to see what people said about the meeting this morning, but this thread is insanity gold!
Serious question here @OP+1d5aHQhe you said "Been a few months since I left Teradata," so I have to ask, wtf, why do you care? Move on.
5ild+1d5aHQhe Of course they don't need an excuse to lay people off. But how often do you get to lay people off and score a hat trick at the same time?
This is a weird post. But does TD really need an excuse to let people go though?
The threat of layoff for not taking the vax is real. Five seconds of searching brings up articles from San Diego with quotes like "Chris Van Gorder, chief executive officer of Scripps Health, said his organization will fire unvaccinated employees later this week." Sadly, the same people that can't be bothered to do five seconds of research can't be bothered to look for a new job. Enjoy your blissful ignorance when it lasts. When it's your turn to get the call from HR, you will only have yourself to blame.
@2pfv+1d5aHQhe I took the vaccine against long Covid, not against the risk of death (of which you mention a particular value corresponding to an age bracket and some assumptions while the figures change drastically once you change these assumptions). I do think that the governments are acting incompetently at best if not criminally, mandating vaccinés for 12yr old for example, but the devil is in the details. Also my two cents is - private companies have the right to ask whatever they darn please, which is not illegal. For instance that their employees be vaccinated. I would hate it personally but vote with my feet.
Wow. There are some really ducked up people working at Teradata.
1sbw+1d5aHQhe Cool story bro. I believe every word. But what does that have to do with firing employees that don't want to undergo a medical procedure? And if your team is so wonderful and empathetic, why do you come to this site?
"ALL my team got vaccinated when we could when those that we lost didn't even have the opportunity to get vaccinated because it wasn't even available yet. We are taking steps to protect one and another as a team..."
So you got injected with some goop that messes with your RNA because it may mitigate symptoms of a virus that has a 0.03% chance of ki----g you? Can you say sheeple? Yes. I knew you could. No wonder this outfit is circling the drain. We're infested with organisms who've lost in the natural selection lottery.
Your assumptions about my role are as as analogous to your assumptions about the vaccine. I'm an Engineer. Regarding your letting people go mention below, sounds like a you problem. We lost folks to covid on our offshore and on shore teams, including folks that have been here for 20+ years. This is the same variant that is here in the US. ALL my team got vaccinated when we could when those that we lost didn't even have the opportunity to get vaccinated because it wasn't even available yet. We are taking steps to protect one and another as a team should, while you, well I am happy you made the choice to move on. We don't need your close minded remarks which is probably why you are still coming back here, you cannot progress.
They would push it but since many racial minorities have the lowest vaccination rates, it would hurt diversity to fire people in those groups. So they really can’t do it.
1qrs+1d5aHQhe I know HR doesn't like it when former employees come to this site but that is none of your business. Besides, isn't there some new diversity initiative you should be working on rather than come here to troll?
1wyb+1d5aHQhe As I type this, hundreds of nurses, teachers, etc are getting laid off because they refuse to take the vax. If you don't see the connection between vax mandates and layoffs, you must work in Marketing.
I'm happy you have found new opportunities elsewhere. Im not sure why you are coming back here to ask something like this since you stated you have left but doesn't this seem a bit toxic to you? You should move along and not worry about something that has absolutely nothing to do with you. I'm concerned you have left Teradata but have not mentally left Teradata. I hope you find peace someday but this doesn't post provides 0 value and well, if people are reading this, doesn't this seem unhealthy?
Um, Marketing, just stop OK? lol Vax mandates? REALLY? Nice try to deflect from layoffs.
