Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Reaction when you quit?

I finally quit! UP has consumed my life.
I thought they would be completely indifferent when I told them I'm quitting, because I am aware that they only see people as numbers, however, I think the manager was surprised.
I even think he was angry because he didn’t like the news.

Do they really think that we are so hopeless and that UP is our only option?

Most managers hate UP as much if not more than the non agreement. I knew a few executives though that had drank the koolaid and used to talk bad about anyone that left for another job. Funny thing is some of those very executives have since been fired within the past 3 years. At least they can say they didn’t quit.

Good job. I'm with ya. That place blows. I left after 12 years. If I'm going to start over, it's going to be at a different place.

Yes they do! There's is in fact too many people there that still believe there's no better job that pays as well. It's called brain-washing. If you want a better example of the continuous brain-washing, then go read the articles put out by the completely out-of-touch executives. Every one of them will need hours of surgery to have their heads removed from their a55es.

@1xjg LOL you mad bro?

UP was a pit-stop, not a career. I jumped to a tech company (you might be using one of their devices to read this) where I get five weeks paid vacation, remote/flex work options, and significantly better pay than anything UP ever would have given me.

You seem unhappy. Post a link to your resume and I’ll see what I can do for you.

How do you know he was fired? In fact, how do you know anything about the poster? Your post makes you sound ignorant and petty.

It’s not trolling to come here and share your experience after you quit or are laid off.. This website isn’t affiliated with UP. He is free to share his opinion and experience and you are free to fu-k off.

@OP Good for you. In a few weeks you’ll be asking yourself why you waited so long to do it.

I quit with no notice (the only way to do it). I went to the nearest UP office, returned all UP property I had in my possession, got it signed for and left. I don’t remember much of a reaction except for an email I got from someone in Omaha complaining that I didn’t give sufficient notice, as if I actually cared at that point.
