Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

oh look two more men hired into leadership roles

A vp and svp. Both white males. Our ELT should practice what they preach in what seems like daily emails about diversity. Women are leaving because this is just a joke.

I agree. We don’t have normal execs gushing about their he---------l partners in business settings, why should homosexuals think they need to?

experience or not, do we have to listen to them talk about their "lifestyle and partner"? I'm not against that in particular but I would prefer to focus on the issue at hand. Now is not the time to grandstand about your social cause. Let's instead focus on us keeping our jobs

Well they do have the experience. Let’s judge a candidate by their experience and successes, not their gender.

Who are the new ones and who just left? I haven't heard anything!

@OP+1aHmQhkG can we please just focus on competence or lack thereof? Yes the number of recent very senior hires is somewhat high. Yes some of these didn't shine in any way. Yes the diversity message is loud but not necessarily followed or even applicable. But what I am worried most is about - are they going to do the job? To that, even if it feels like pulling teeth, there are a few positive signals lately. If only we stopped wasting energy promising to solve issues which are beyond our purpose and solved the ones which are.

@lip+1aHmQhkG - It's expected. TD does this EVERY.SINGLE.YEAR after a lay off. It's only Q2 2021, hold on and watch for the Q3 scare tactics, then lay offs in Q4, then another hiring surge in early to mid 2022, then it starts all over again.

What I don't understand is the management message Q3 and Q4 of 2020 was we need to get our cost in control. We all lived for 4+ months under the threat of loss of our jobs to help control cost because of the rookie CEO spilled the beans. Under cost control, they retired many experienced people because they were over 55 years of age and had 10 years of experience, not because they weren't high performers. Raises in March are delayed or canceled for 2021. Now this hiring spree of senior leadership?

If they’re the “best people for the job,” why does one of them need to hire yet another VP below them? Such hierarchy

Are they the best people for the jobs? As a shareholder I want the best people for the jobs. Maybe the attention to diversity allowed them to take their eye off the ball and risk Teradata’s future.
