They will probably lay off people one by one by department. The ones they think don't want to work extremely long hours. I once worked at a company where they put someone in the finance department on a PIP and said the employee wasn't performing up to par but the other employees were making just as many and in some cases more mistakes. They kept extending it so this person would get them till year end. I think they filed with the EEOC.
SSDC HR confirmed no more retrenchment package today??:(
I heard some groups were redeployed.
Save 1/2 of your income. You should have been doing that all along instead of buying a BMW on an 8 year payment plan.
Any more info on SSDC closing down? NO new product no roadmap..
Ping Pong
Management waste resources
We the new $GME!!
Something is going on. Either we are being sold or the news on the layoffs is out there. Stock is way up, no reason why.
And those who decide are >50s themselves.
FRE need get rid of over 50 mgmt ... waste $$ and contributing nothing to the company bottomline ..
FRE seems to be getting rid of those that are over 50 in some departments and hiring younger people in their place. In certain depts they have a history of singling out one or two people and making it difficult for them. There has been abusive behavior/language by management and employees to the ones they've singled out. I left a few years ago and it is one of the best decision I've made but I still keep in contact with a few people that are still there. They expect you to smile and take the abuse. As long as you're there and being verbally abused it will never go away. It just changes form. I'm waiting for someone to write a book of all the bad behavior/mistreatment that has happened over the years.
What’s the rumoured date then?
The rumoured stats here is overblown if solely on ssdc, probably worldwide to be more realistic.

wow! Seagate director
Sweet. Insider info! Wow, yeah that is about 20% of the workforce. Something big is getting shut down for that number. Maybe multiple things. Thanks for the heads up.
8342 will be laid off, to be precise.
How many will be affected this round ? or the whole design center will be gone ?
There are layoffs planned in the White House on the 20th.
not economical to run a SSDC in Singapore
Very likely to happen.
Hurrying up product launch and no more roadmap.
I heard 86.548% of the staff to be precise.
Seagate Springtown have taken the decision to layoff 75% of their staff.
FRE also has layoffs ...
There are also rumours of layoffs in Cupertino and Seagate's secret Antarctic base.
