Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

No year end cool down time

In my previous company no one used to work last 2 week of December other than admin activities so employees can reset, spend some time with family and re- energize for new year. But here at Metlife looks like we need to work until Last day of the year.

SLT all out until January 3rd, but you #BeWell as you continue to work over the next 2 weeks.

As long as your work is getting done, your manager should be flexible with your time off (including during the last two weeks of the year). If you are not meeting expectations or meeting your goals, it would make sense on why they are hesitant to approve of ~2 weeks at year end. You may need to find another group, if you are a solid performer and your manager is being rigid/no flexibility.

And they brag much about their mentoring and hiring of U.S. Veterans, but guess what? Vets here gotta work on Veterans Day or take a "Cultural Heritage Day". Great recognition for those who served our country.
