In theory, unions are great.
In Reality, not so much. Any pay raises negotiated are easily eaten up by a raise in insurance costs, and all the negotiating team will say is “they wanted X %!!! We got them knocked down to Y %”

After so many times of the same thing, the company knows if they wanna add 2% all they gotta ask for is 5% and our id--t leadership throws 2% at us like it’s a win….
More money out of my pocket is never a win. But young guys see that 2% raise in hourly pay and it’s good in their eyes.

Fact is, we’re paying dues for the things guys did 30 years ago, but the company is slowly taking all of that away

Let's get something straight.. Unions are nothing but mafias. They are a cancer on any business and a fat bloated middle man.

Even more nonsense. Costs too high, productivity too low, no performance management, old and unfit workforce, outdated working practices = all thanks to the Union. Unions do nothing but make the US less competitive and we know what happens after that..... If the company didnt' pay competitive, didn't have benefits etc people wouldn't come work here. Nothing to do with Unions......

40 an hour, Pension, pay pennies on the dollar for cadillac insurance plans and Overtime guarantees. I would not have that if it wasn't for the union. Sounds like you don't know how it is. Also unions aren't the reason this company is where it is. We have done everything management has advised us to do. If it didn't work out well look in the mirror.

What complete nonsense! You'd all have EXACTLY the same benefits if the union did not exist! Just as people in other non-union workplaces have. This is the union trying to protect their role (and the fees they charge you - remember they are a business...), a role that ultimately ceased to be needed in the 1970s.....

"I'd like to say that your job is because of the union, but since you are clearly a contractor that does not apply. Your colorful claims of tech misdeeds don't even qualify as creative and you should really try harder if you want them to sound authentic. Unions are responsible for so many things about your daily life, you should really read up on the subject. 40 hr work weeks, vacation time, meal breaks are all because of unions and were bargained for by our brothers and sisters."

The Union is a joke. They caught one of the stewards embezzling money from the Union red handed but refused to prosecute her. They just moved her to a non-Union job at Frontier. This happened in Tampa and Dan knows all about it. Disgusting!

Contractors do shotty work, constantly going behind them and cleaning up. FTR techs are trained to do the job right, Contractors are trained to be quick

I’m a CCM, but I’m not going to say which center. I believe in being straight with my employees, and this website is no different. Yes, there will be layoffs. Frontier has been slowly strangled over the years by the Union. The only way that Frontier will survive is if we part ways with the Union. Contractors are the future for Frontier. My center is flooded with calls from customers regarding issues with the techs. We’ve had complaints that techs have been pleasuring themselves in their vans, stealing from houses during repair calls, and purposely running over pets with their vans. It makes me ill. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the truth needs to be told!

Copper is super slow in Southern California, I could only imagine how slow it will be in the summer for them.

Of course there will be layoffs. But no one in the c suite while CEO will continue to cut middle management and individual contributors. Cut cuts cuts coming all year!
