Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Can anybody share what areas were hit so far?

From what I understand, this round of layoffs is phased. It would be nice to know what was hit so far to have some idea of where we are currently in the bigger picture. I wish there was more transparency about the process but that's too much to expect from management.

@9zba+1ll3Vw72 sounds more like wishful thinking on your part. read the article in the previous reply, DEI is directly tied to ESG and if/when ESG goes away so does DEI. its not 2020 anymore.

DEI quotas for equity and “affirmative action” are alive and well at Disney. Remains a big part of Disney. This is also true of the majority of companies and government hiring in America. See Forbes, PEW research, Washington Post, NY Times, The Atlantic, etc. Previous poster, do you due diligence before saying things that are not accurate! DEI is going strong!

@3jdk+1ll3Vw72 DEI is already being phased out in other industries in preparation for recession. It's only a matter of time before Disney follows suit, especially if Blackrock pulls out of ESG initiatives the way Vanguard has: https://www.ft.com/content/f5fe15f8-3703-4df9-b203-b5d1dd01e3bc

Executives setting and monitoring strict quotas, and is represented throughout to all other "HR" practices.

gee, wonder why disney is suffering its worst losses in 100 years

Very few, if two, specifically DEI have been laid-off. Recruiters and Talent Acq. yes, but not DEI. DEI efforts are prioritized and is still going strong in HR and throughout Disney, from Executives setting and monitoring strict quotas, and is represented throughout to all other "HR" practices. In fact, possible that Disney's HR will change its name to DEI Resources and stop using HR. Things are just fine for Disney DEI-focused efforts. No worries there.

everyone thought it was going to be the chapek team(s) but it turns out HR is getting hit first and the hardest. layoffs have already started in recruiting, talent acquisition, and diversity & inclusion.

disclaimer: I am NOT suggesting these areas of the business are going away anytime soon so don't expect to see any significant changes to the sociopolitical messaging coming from leadership. at the end of the day, the strategic direction of the company is determined by blackrock. not by iger, the board, or anyone else.
