Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Question for managers

Have any of you been told to prepare a list of names for layoffs that are about to hit soon? I'm trying to figure out if something I heard from a coworker is true or not. I personally doubt we'll have any layoffs before June but it doesn't hurt to check with others, just to be sure.

@9xrf You hit it spot on. Left that PMIC he-l hole as well. No damm idea why people like Xma is still there, totally incompetent. Most upper management in that dept are just lip service, watching each other back. A small group of engineers do earn my respect but they are far and few. We know who they are.... Not sure why they have not left, most probably tie down with family commitments.

What is being described here, is exactly what you see throughout India 10fold.

Greed and worshop for the almighty $$$ on display in NA. How does it look and feel to you?

It's real low level of living. Not a disease I want to be infected with.

Rather see it die from its own disease than give it another host to survive on.

@9zrq your post resonates well with me. I used to work in the PMIC in SD and managers there were a true psychopaths. The guy of those would smile when he sees you, talk normal to you, heck invites you for a drink and then st@b you hard in the back with no remorse. And I am talking about dangerous st@bbing that would take a toll on your performance evaluation and your career. It was super d!sguting actually. They are still in the same department protecting each other via the buddy system. I am glad I left that toxic department.

@5svg , you have no idea. At Q, managers not only choose who goes, they choose who goes so they can save themselves. Instead of taking responsibility for failed projects, they blame some poor guy(s) working for them on projects that were set up to fail in the first place. They're cowards and b@ckst@bbers, pure and simple. If you are at Q, watch your behind. There is someone waiting to step on you at the first opportunity. It's a toxic, toxic "culture".

What is layoff package like? How many weeks for each year of tenure?

I wonder managers are the ones to pick and decide who will let go? I thought it's coming from more higher level. In our division, there are too many managers and many don't have any subordinates. Just more experienced for a certain role..? So I thought "managers" in Q are not same to managers in other companies.

Here's another question for managers: Do you feel any guilt or remorse when you fu-k up so badly that people would rather quit Qualcomm that work for you anymore? Do you feel any guilt or remorse when you betray the trust of your subordinates that placed their trust in you?

First phase, they let go volunteers. Now 6% lay off coming in 3 / 4 weeks. About 800 names are short listed for San Diego office.

Yes, I can confirm that some folks have been notified already, last week. My team hasn't been notified yet, so it seems like either not all teams impacted or different teams are rolling out cuts at different time.
