Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Did layoffs happen and I missed it?

Why are people saying their last day is tomorrow? I didn't hear anything about layoffs since the original announcement and I highly doubt that's something that could fly under the radar. Are people trolling or am I missing something here? Please, enlighten me on what's going on.

Got a call last week from a former HP coworker. He said that since I left, the boss can’t hire a replacement since there’s a hiring freeze in effect. I tried to help the guy out but his expertise lies in another area so he is struggling to get things done. Even though I really liked my HP job, I always felt that HP cared very little about our work since most of us were severely underpaid and there were always rumors about layoffs.

@9wiz+1l5updmU is correct. I reached the same conclusion in 2005. I'm near retirement now from a completely different industry that isn't subject to the peaks and valleys of tech and how far the company has fallen. Best decision I ever made. I remember the final days of the Bill and Dave legacy and even have the book "The HP Way."

@9wiz+1l5updmU is spot on. It isn't normal to be forced to live from quarter to quarter as a professional.

Do HP employees REALLY like to live from week to week, and from fiscal quarter to quarter?

I thankfully left HP several years ago when it became painfully obvious that HP has become a company on the decline. I had enough of worrying about layoffs all the time. I now work at a company that is growing in a large way, is heavily hiring, with NO layoffs whatsoever since I’ve been here.

So HP employees - You deserve better.

As far as I know, there is an EER application process going on. All people applied should have received an answer by now and the retirement date should be communicated by Feb 15th (in 2 days). Usually, the management would start layoff process after they have the actual numbers and dates. (every person retired - is one less person the layoff).

WTF!!! You must be living under a rock - this section is for HP Inc, not HPE. Two separate companies for years now.

Dude, you must be living under the rock, layoffs at HPE has been ongoing for more than 10 years now. But that seems to be a good and safe thing to do :)

I don’t think HP is announcing each wave of layoffs. I am out this Friday. Couple of other people I know as well.
