Thoughts? Any Sysco layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

I remember the town hall after all the layoffs in early 2024 and Ron Phillips telling us all that our "...colleagues helped shaped the company we are today and will always be part of the Sysco story." Could you be anymore offensive, Ron? I would have preferred you simply said "Big business happens.". Then he went on some 10 minutes rant about how inclusive Sysco was and he didn't want people around that didn't think like he does.
Regardless, I was fired a few months ago. As stressful as it's been, in the end, I'm glad to be out.
They have a lot to figure out before they become a real foodservice distribution company again.
Sysco expects loyalty from their employees but employees are just meat on the hoof to them. I’ve given years and years to them, worked crazy hours, been a top producer and got laid off today. Reason given is that they are “restructuring”. If they are truly “restructuring” they should start at the top with the CEO.
Been a loyal employee for 35 years and got the layoff call today. Loyalty is always expected but not given.
More GSC cuts this morning after told was over. Currently aware of seven.
Almost 1000 company-wide I think, so far in January
I got laid off in Oct 2023 - just a year and a half into a role I would not have accepted knowing what I do now. They told me the reason for the opening was growth yadda yadda yadda. I had more to do that I knew what to do with yet laid off? I suspect they hired someone in CR for 1/3 of my salary. Oh well. Just a really stupid way to run a company. They'll make more money in the short term, but this strategy will fail.
@9nt+1vo6dvXt Safe for now. But who knows. I don’t think there were any today.
I got laid off from the GSC yesterday. Layoffs in Corporate Comms and Sustainability.
I transferred to a new position yesterday and 2 people were layoff. My previous team didn't have any but we did have a lot last year.
What gave me the feeling was lack of clarity around what other teams and initiatives may look like with the changes. Was mentioned more would be known by Wednesday or Thursday. Many coded, ambiguous statements were made that led me to think more to come. I've seen enough of these by now to read between the lines.
Just informed that market compliance was eliminated. Also there will be more today or tomorrow.
@9j7+1vo6dvXt, any updates on Huston? Hope you dodged the bullet.
What gives you the feeling? I’m wondering if it will hit merchandising department. Usually does.
I know of six at GSC. Unable to confirm more on the way, but got the feeling more could happen tomorrow.
I know of two today at GSC
We are having an meeting at 1:55. Houston Corporate, credit department?
I just got laid off, corporate tech side.
Yes but that is not working and have heard nothing else on this center. Do not think they are taking this route. Just my thoughts.
They announced well over a year ago that they're building a new HQ in Costa Rica, so unless something has changed, we can assume all Houston HQ jobs will be moved.
Attrition high on newbies… not surprising.
Do we know what part of Corporate the layoffs will happen at? Also internal
Is it possible, first poster, to give month you think it’s coming? Are the signs still there? If you could please follow up that would be great and thank you. I am internal.
Hoping whomever posted on November 19th will chime in
Who would it affect?
Any updates? I think it may happen by February. Just a guess though.
Corporate, it’s coming. Being asked for go gets daily, review of headcount being conducted by HR. Advised 1-2 yo attrition is high, retirement eligible is under review. Everything is falling apart.
