Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Walgreens employee forum

The management would be wise if they were to look at this Walgreens employee forum - I think people are sincere here as they are anonymous. Employee surveys are not that good as they have people who are scared to be tracked. A forum for employees like this one here is more useful for direct feedback.

Good luck.

I hope executives read this.

100 dms laid off, several Bae layoffs. These were loyal, hard working employees with years of experience. Dedicated and assets to the company. Who will be next? They want you to be loyal and to always go above and beyond, for what? So they can stab you in the back. This is a company with no loyalty to the people who work their a---- off each day and sacrifice family time, holidays, birthdays, mental/physical health etc. to make them more money. Loyalty, tenure, and going above and beyond gets you no where in this company.

Walgreens is the WORST!!!! 10 years of lies and thankless years of dedicated service. Don't waste your time working here!!!!. If you do just sit back and watch managers come and go and customers steal all they can. What a suck company. Nothing will ever change.

Hmm, it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer, but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers? I’d appreciate it.

Thank you

Anthony

Part timers are expected to work most holidays but no longer receive any extra pay. Also designated hitters used to get compensated with extra pay for holding a pharmacy tech license but we no longer get any compensation for that either. What is corporate thinking? I hope corporate reads this and responds.

You can ALQAYS file complaints with OSHA, EEOC and the Labor Board.
Don't be afraid, it's what the company is counting on.

There have been a lot of changes recently in the whole Walgreens organization. Even at executive level. The latest was Gunjan Bhow leaving as Global CDO. Was he fired or did he leave for a better executive position. With his short time in every other corporate he had worked at he couldn't expect a higher position at Walgreens at least.

Walgreens doesn’t treat their employees like humans. We are just cogs in the machine to the higher ups. They’ll have you doing the work of five people in the pharmacy and pay you almost nothing. And there is no such thing as a sick day you have to find someone to cover for you or come in no matter how sick you are. We deserve better.

I, at this point am going thru extreme difficulties for me and my family not only mentally but financially. After 13 years of being a loyal member of Walgreens so called family I was injured at work due to the incompetence and negligence of another employee. It has taken me a year and a half to get the proper treatment that I should have gotten at the beginning. Now I am being penalized for the lack of approvals and time of Walgreens insurance companies. I was said to have a strain and sprain in my right shoulder for months and months and then after fighting for months and months for an Mri it was found to be a almost severed Rotar cuff tendon tear which took 2 anchors to repair it. After the surgery I am still in recovery still to this day . it took months to force them to get an MRI on my knee which was injured at the same time. This revealed that I had a tear in my meniscus tendon and a major bone spur had developed and debris from the length of time it took to get the proper treatment that should have been done a year and half before. This has been no fault of mine all determinations and decisions were made by Walgreens insurance company and doctors Sedgwick s failure to give approval for the MRIs which showed the extent of my injuries has lead to debilitating effects on my body which will never heal. They are permanent because of the bottom line on expense
The reason I am saying this now to all Walgreens employees is because we are being told that we need to go on the family leave act even though we were are covered under the workers comp . The reason we need to be covered by worker's comp is because of what I have paid in because of our contract with Walgreens as an employee which is mandated by the state of Texas due to the number if employees employed by Walgreens. We are being delayed of any compensation due to workers comp even though that they know we have not received even one dollar what soever quite the opposite we have paid for anytime off work with my PTO and have always worked 40hours a week my full schedule as a shift lead. Never leaving them even one time needing a replacement. All the time working thru Covid-19 from the very beginning I have met my schedule my job and my job performance which is proved by my last raise if there is anything different why did they not tell me. Now that the employee market level has increased not only to have new employees but to now diversify I am no longer needed because of the racism toward causians that has appeared in the work place. They hired after black lives matter two African American males . This made my job expendable due to the clicks with the Hispanics to make sure they had their jobs which has been reported to HR. I was told one and a half weeks ago I would no longer be put on the schedule because of my so called disability even though I'm suppose to be on light duty. She schedule me two more days because she had no one to cover them two shifts. So what does my injury have to do with this .it sure helped her out. And I'm saying this as a fact. They do not want to pay money thru workers comp they want to go thru the federal govt family leave act how can I pay my bills with no income after giving the majority of my adult life to Walgreens. Please respond to this Everybody who thinks this is wrong.i have reached out to Walgreens HR and was told it would take two days to get back with me it has not happened. I don't believe Walgreens has the best interest of their employees but stock holders and people not in American do not know what is going on in America. They are putting the roof over my head in jeopardy and I don't feel at this point I have no support at this time from Walgreens. They turned their back on us as quick as it made their bottom line.

It has been very overwhelming working these past few months we are over worked and under paid a lot pharmacies do not do as much shots as we do in a day some stores have no help which are many I’ve watched techs and pharmacist quit due to feeling over worked and under paid many of us has been promised raises/bonus during this time and we haven’t received anything there are new equipments out in place but nothing for the workers who are at risk to many health adversities I would hope you guys who sit and make rules take into the consideration the ppl who are on the front line this has seem to been about greed/money but the workers don’t receive workers who have worked longer than new techs getting paid the same it’s sad and pathetic and a owner and slave mentality

I work for a store in California. Bakersfield to be my exact. We see thefts happen daily! We don’t have any security to try and detour them. The cases that Corp send only do so much. Two of our newest cases for body, are already near compromised and not even two weeks in from being set up. Though they want us to stand and ask for surveys and donations.

My store is ridiculous. They have me down with no hours and there's a snitch who does almost no work. You have to kiss their but and they are snotty no matter how hard you work. 1 of the worst jobs I've had as far as being treated like a person. They lie and tell you you're wrong and you can't even ask ?'s without they being rude or sarcastic. So full of themselves and think they have power. Also very snotty to customers a lot and make them wait long in line. Whatever they do I don't care. Be a good thing if I'm gone.

I left Walgreens and recently went back. I am a CPhT, I am a hard worker and have not missed a day. I had my review, I did not get a raise. I make under $13/hr. Guess what Walgreens I will no longer bust my tail and my dependability is about to change too. You get what you pay for and no more.

My wife has worked for Walgreens for 9 1/2yrs I have seen the management bully and intimidate her to the point its causing anxiety and depression. One manager didn't like the fact she knew more about how the store run than she did she talked down to her and when one manager left for another job after her review the new manager went in only after being there weeks went in and changed her score so no raise! Now she has a new manager he was feed a bunch of lies and started bullying her and gave her a poor review so no raise seems she is coming up for a review and management is going back 3mos to write her up ,starting to see a pattern you don't work at Walgreens for 9+ yrs and be denied a raise 3 yrs in a row .

To ex-employee,
Calling pharmacy employees is not an SFL's job, it's a job for pharmacy employees. For you to get pegged to do that, it was wrong of them. I am also a 20-year-employee and I turn down several offers a year to be SFL because I don't want to be taken advantage of. As a lowly photo employee (my photo lab is in the top 3 in photo sales for the district), I have the advantage of not having to deal with a lot of stuff that SFLs have to deal with.
The trick to staying sane is choosing what to care about. I care about OSA and pricing integrity, so I do those meticulously. I don't care about Smart Counts, E-learnings, or asking for donations and receipt surveys. I find short cuts or do the bare minimum. You can't care about everything corporate wants you to and stay happy. There's not enough time in the day.

I worked for Walgreens for 20 Years decided to leave last year due to numerous reasons regarding how this company is leading. Hate the fact that Walgreens wants us as shift leads call and harassed pharmacy customers to come and pick up its medication on a daily based, putting more work load onto us shift leads as we are pay is about equal to a new hired. As a 20yr employee my pay is just about as much as a clerk but I'm having to run the whole entire store and do numerous multi task as a front end clerk whom just gets to stand around and do very little or no task at all. Thats why I decided that there is a bigger brighter opportunity out there, screw Walgreens I will never shop there again but I will surly take advantage of all the free offers its photo department offer. I rather spend my $$ elsewhere, get my med elsewhere knowing that I'm not wasting my money on a money hunger company like Walgreen

I worked for Walgreens for 2 years loved the job very much I was top seller in the district for red nose days and other events customers Loved me I thought I had a chance to become a manager then they seen where I had used my fathers Walgreens card it was under my old phone number I never took a employee discount with that card I had my own for that but they said it was like stealing from them, they brought in lost prevention he talked to me like a dog wanted me to write out this bull c-ap paper saying I was stealing off the company I told him no we went over and over finally I ask my boss is this a right up or am I fired just go ahead and tell me don’t put me through all this c-ap I was one of the Best employees that store has had never been wrote up never late always above and beyond for this company they fired me,I left but I was very angry and they all knew it. I got three job offers before I left that store I was very upset, but I was Happy to see What the real Walgreens think of their Valued Employees.

Walgreen's are losing a lot of good employees due to the lack of caring about their employees... They expect a person to do 3 peoples jobs and get paid for one person... Working a 8/9 hour shift and only getting one 30 mins break is just wrong.... Standing all day long and working hard and they still think you can do more and do it better....

The manager bullied me numerous times not just about my physical appearance but also my ethnicity. I left and didn’t complain. They are also years behind in the software curve. Other companies like cvs and amazon have way better data systems.

Walgreen's is an absolute dumpster fire. Multiple time "customer service champion of the month" recipient, personally recognized for the red nose foundation, had the best numbers in the district, and was kicked to the curb because I "did not file a report" that a tech had deleted out of the system, making it virtually impossible to file. Being fired from that sh– show was the best thing that ever happened to me. Working a new job and have NEVER been happier. I will NEVER shop at a Walgreen's for the rest of my life, and neither will my family and friends. Same goes for CVS. Not a single person I know shops at those corporate run hell holes.

Getting out of Walgreens corporate was the best thing I ever did! It used to be a great company to work for and I really did think I would retire from there. Nope. It's really sad how bad it has gotten.

Don't know if this concerns all walgreens, but we received email stating if each person in Pharmacy doesn't get 5 people to sign up for 90 day script, manager gets written up. If anyone in store gets survey complaint, that person gets write up. Walgreens is out to get rid of managers and employees because we can't force people to do what corp wants. In fact a customer remarked that survey is set up to fail employee and store.

I was always very honest doing the engagement surveys because idgaf. Walgreens doesn't care about their employees though.

The problem with engagement surveys is they are not tracking what you think of corporate or the corporate policies. The questions are only related to your store personal and immediate management. So if you think you are blasting corporate - you're not, you're downgrading your store manager or pharmacy manager. Then corporate has another reason to tank their bonuses and possibly discipline them. It's a crock of c-ap.

Agreed! I know people are afraid to put down how they really feel on engagement surveys, due to fear of retaliation. Although to be fair, I don't think corporate cares one darn bit what employees think, so why we have engagement surveys is beyond me.
