In a report released by Paramount, an additional 349 employees are due to face termination from the company between Dec. 23 and Dec. 31, 2024, raising the number of impacted workers to nearly 1,000. Per the report, layoffs are far from over despite the pending litigation, with a set end date of Feb. 14.

Redbird does not own Skydance and whoever said that is an id--t who doesn’t know anything.

People need to remember that Redbird owns Skydance, meaning Jeff Zucker who destroyed CNN will at least be running CBS. Merger would be catastrophic, everything Zucker touches turns to po-p

Anybody supporting the Skydance merger is drinking the Kool-aid thinking it's a good thing

Good point, just because you may be talking & sharing information between Skydance & PARA now - doesn't mean it isn't legal just because you're doing it. What you are doing now may very well be the straw that breaks the camels back. Personally, I don't think people that high in companies pay any attention to these sites & blogs

The sharing of sales information between Tribune & Sinclair that blew the merger were in virtually all news reports at the time the deal collapsed - so you just have to p search for reports on the merger getting the ax. Yes companies can obviously talk before merged is closed but it's limited to many things to avoid insider trading & other obvious reasons. The market value can rise or fall significantly on the opening bell of the new company on wall street. Sharing sales information such as cpm's is forbidden especially if deal falls through for other reasons & now each company knows the others pricing - plus the fact that most of the big TV companies are still within the 7 year Consent Decree by the DOJ Forbidding it. That's CBS, NBC, Sinclair, TV stations from formed Tribune that were broken up & bought by others, nexstar, meredith etc.

I have the same experience as the other poster. Yes the companies can talk it's called due diligence. Tell me you dont know how mergers work without telling me you dont know how mergers work.

OMG - so this person is supposedly working on Skydance merger plans? Tell that to ad execs from Tribune & Sinclair that shared sales info before the merger that is mostly what sunk the deal. Btw PARA paying hundreds of millions for the break-up fee will cause huge layoffs itself

None of these people responding are employees they have no idea what they are talking about. The merger is a done deal and will close Q1 and many of us are working on what that will look like. Don't listen to the noise from rag mags like the NYPost or what people post here. Nothing is stopping it. Ellison and the team are bringing a lot of great ideas to take Paramount to the top.

Billionaires don't get what they want when buying or selling... Seriously where does your reasoning come from ? There are no rules

  • you are foolish to open your mouth & say such ignorant things. How many billionaires just this year did NOT win their bid for PARA alone ? Ellison will most likely get what he wants either. Sinclair got defeated trying to buy Tribune & took years later for nexstar to get tribune. You don't know your broadcast history or your billionaire history . There's several ways for mergers to get busted: shareholder objection, FCC , DOJ etc. just Monday Trump emphasized as--ult on media & their mergers with FCC Brendan Carr. You have your head in sand with mouth wide open.

Sorry but billionaires are gonna get what billionaires want when it comes to selling and buying. Anyone can file a lawsuit and the government can saber rattle to get the necessary calls of respect from the rich. The rich folks know how to navigate all of this. You think new administration is going to care about layoffs, upset rich minority shareholders, and random businesses complaining about competition? Way worse deals have glided through. Sale will be done in a few months.

why are some people so gung ho about skydance merger? there were no good merger partners, the one that offered to merge were no good & skydance is the worst of them. these people don't get that the pre-merger layoffs are just the beginning, it's the skydance future merge layoff everybody's got to worry about. so what the ellisons are the biggest billionaire's? thats because the are the leanest & put the layoff money in their pockets

Trumps power lol. He won a defamation suite and rightfully so. He was found liable for s-xual as--ult and not ra-e. Only Trump would go after someone saying it was “only s-xual as--ult” not ra-e. CBS will be fine and his clown show will focus on other areas.

Lesley Stahl is VERY Worried about the future of legacy media with Trump in office. For her to admit that in public ( the 92nd St Y, last week) you know CBS is worried about their license. Plus the fact that Trump won $15million against ABC last week - so buckle in for a wild ride for those who doubt the power of Trump v cbs

People keep track of who takes BUYOUTS AFTER the layoffs. In NYC the unions are in bed with management. The old sell-out trick is these longtime union people pass on the buyout, then let the company layoff the younger union guys - then after the layoffs the senior union guys take their buyout so they can get the severance PLUS unemployment in reward for allowing the company to squeeze the layoffs in... Ya - the senior union techs don't take their "buyout" until the younger techs are laid off - then they allow themselves to get "laid off" to collect unemployment on top of their severance package! Old back room deal is why a lot of people boycott the IBEW holiday party every year. The labor day parade is especially embarrassing - the only IBEW people in the NYC labor day parade every year are the 5 top cronies at local 1212

In New York City - CBS news techs - especially 403.g's ( CBS union people with no job protection, seniority or pension) haven't been going to the union holiday party for years - just in general silent protest of how the union does nothing for members anymore - other than to renew the contract going forward. Anyone going to Holiday parties should be ashamed of themselves to be celebrating in the same room with management sc-m

Interesting the layoffs due to consolidation excuse BEFORE the Merger when there may not even be a merger... Layoffs because of the merger should be AFTER the merger. Nobody should be going to the Holiday parties in silent protest of layoffs & solidarity . If anyone gets told they were laid off because of merger consolidation - should fight for their job back when the merger falls through

How bout layoff all traffic & weather anchors, reporters at CBS local & network ? Seriously nobody has needed them for years. And while we're at it - all sports reporters & anchors - nobody needs the. These segments only serve for extra advertising sponsors & ads. This can all be reported by anchors - which FOX News has pretty much been doing for decades in the morning, such as Brian Kilmeade covering the sports etc.

Of course layoffs will continue, stop already with layoff news from WARN. WARN has nothing to do with accurate layoff numbers. PARA & other Media companies could care less about technicalities such as WARN - especially if sudden need to make a particular quarter look good. WARN is the last thing companies worry about when layoffs are concerned.
