P.s. Could they have done all the paperwork and then announce the layoff so people didn't have to wait? Yes. They didn't do it because they are id--ts. HR in RH is notoriously incompetent.
@8rnj+1mKRLyqX It had nothing to do with the US holidays. Local HR teams need to clear the layoff with local labour offices, unions and work councils if present (the process depends on the country, takes weeks in most cases).
Also, in most EU countries there is a buffer between the day you receive notification and the day you are no longer employed. In the Czech Republic, for example, it's 30 days.
I suggest everyone to research your local laws.
They didn't want to do it before a Holiday weekend and HR is underwater. Strap in this week is going to be a rough one. Those notified will be gone end of 1H.
I don't think anyone had any bad news in EMEA today. Whoever posted the initial message, didn't really back it up with any additional info.
CZ is quiet for now.
Anybody impacted today in EMEA?
Thursday is D-Day. Leave your Hat at the door it's IBM property.
Have any countries in EMEA received the notifications yet?
