“This isn't the American Dream I was promised”.

You were never promised the American Dream. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness is all you get. The rest is up to you.

Ed publishing has been a train wreck for the last 20 years. You clearly haven’t developed the very important life skill of seeing around corners.

In the operating call, this was shared:

  • all CM and DPM positions will be removed within the next few months
  • a handful of Content Project Manager (CPgM) positions will be opened during this Nov
  • Internal CMs and DPMs are encouraged to apply to this new role (named CPgM)

Currently, only 35 positions are held by CMs and DPMs (combined). I highly doubt they'll open 35 CPgM positions in Nov. Atleast, that was the gist of the operating call.

I am beginning to suspect that many of the posts on this site are untruthful. For example, the previous individual contradicts themselves by claiming to be "safe" and then behaving as if they have been terminated. Do people have nothing better to do than spread false information on the internet?

I'm still fuming! Thursday was the worst day of my life. I walked into the office, expecting another typical day in Mason and BAM! The axe falls. Layoffs. And I'm one of the "lucky" ones.

Those corporate suits have no idea what it's like to be a working stiff. "Downsizing" they call it. "Reorganizing for efficiency." Give me a break! It's just a fancy way of saying "we're cutting costs and you're expendable."

Fourteen years of dedication, hard work, and loyalty down the drain. I've seen it coming, with all the rumors and whispers around the office. But to actually hear those words... "Your services are no longer needed." Ouch!

Now what? The job market's tough, and it's not like I can just walk into another gig tomorrow. I've got bills to pay, a family to support. This is an election year, not some fantasy land where everyone's making millions on Wall Street!

I keep thinking about all the late nights, weekends spent at the office, and the countless cups of coffee fueled productivity. Did it even matter? Apparently not.

I'm angry. I'm frustrated. Because this is total horse sh-t! And I'm scared. What's next? Unemployment lines? Selling apples on the street corner? Working in a coal mine?

This isn't the American Dream I was promised.

Time to dust off the ol' resume and get reacquainted with LinkedIn.

Email announcement rephrased:

The NGL School team is undergoing strategic updates to align with business needs and growth opportunities:

Customer & Digital Success: The team now has a revenue target, focusing on digital renewals, expanding in key districts, and creating new revenue streams. Two new Customer Success Engagement Specialist roles and one Customer Success Consultant position are being added to support these goals. The Digital Solutions group is also being refocused, with existing roles transitioning to Customer Success Account Specialists and Customer Success Specialists to better meet district needs and increase digital utilization. As a result, the Digital Solutions Coordinator and Secondary Digital Agent roles are being eliminated, impacting 7 employees effective October 11.

Sales: The National Accounts team is expanding with four new full-time National Sales Consultant roles. However, the Account Development Representative (ADR) team is being dissolved, resulting in 5 position eliminations effective October 11.

Next Steps: Seven new roles are opening within the team, and internal applicants, including those affected by the changes, are encouraged to apply by October 4.

Coal mines, sure. You're in Kentucky. Liq-or stores, dying mines and jesus. Ever drive through Newport? Yikes. Your former counterparts in Albany are tending bar and working customer service gigs right now, times is tough. Better on the Ohio side of the river, though.

"will be laid off by next week, an email announcement went out"

What did this email say? Can you do a copy-paste on the body of the message? Who was it from?

Who did emails go to? Haven’t heard of anyone getting one. Or, will they be coming from HR next week? Any ideas on what regions/teams will be affected?

Leadership should take leadership courses on how to treat other human beings. Perhaps throw in some ethics and morality.

They are a pathetic lot.

I was wondering if the shoe would drop for sales this Fall. With the changes made to the RCSM, CSM, DSS and DFS postions earlier this year I figured something was coming for sales (inside and outside) reps.

I figured they would use the CSS role now focusing on sales retention as a way to say "we don't need as many reps". You then pay the CSS less, and only give them a 15K bonus potential versus 30-50K for regular reps.

And you wait till after the Fall rush to do it. So you in essence "use" the reps. to make your sales for the year and then let some go.

I don’t know how much time I have left in my position in Inside Sales. That said, I will not be showing up at any office. Starting immediately I will be watching movies, playing some video games and catching up on shows. I am not letting this place stress me out anymore.

The big All Hands call was cancelled and split into multiple meetings so that it's more targeted to different teams in Product. Each group is scheduling their own meeting on the operations updates.

You can prolly discover what shooting ropes means via a quick search . . . but I'm not sure that you want to know, lol.

As for the meeting - eek. Sounds like Horizon without bothering to slap a cute little name onto it.
