Thread regarding VMware layoffs

VMware preaches inclusiveness but 100% complete opposite!

I've been invited to so many meaningful calls, one being titled "It's ok to be ok" discussing mental health. You would think this would be for all employees.

I love these type of topics and support but it was sent from an email address women@vmware.com and the entire panel and participants are 100% women. Imagine if we had men@vmware.com, terrible idea right?

Horrible sexist ways of going about things when trying to practice being "inclusive" as VMware says. VMware the biggest sexist tech company I've worked for yet. They are favoring hiring "women of color" which means white males, don't apply.

@8njf - this country wants to move to a quota-based system (except sports) for education and jobs. This means no more merit-based tests, job offers or school acceptances - just an automatic “in”. So it doesn’t matter if you’re qualified for a role since the theory is that diversity will “fix” an unknown set of unreported problems no one knows about. (

A person of color who lived in empty buildings during college would have been caught by police, given a criminal record that excludes them from a comfy gig working on legacy software at VMware, and then forced to do something actually more useful for society than working here for much less money....such as pick up garbage off the side of the road.

To Pat's faith in low cost labor Every group and gender should be included in the hiring process and no race nor gender should get you a bump or disqualification.

To the anon who called me a "privileged white male". I came from a single home family where my mom raised me. I worked get where I am and I'm sure you did too. I paid for my degree with my own cash and lived in empty buildings & homeless while I went to college. I don't see where this privilege came from other then the media and Twitter telling you that because I'm a 6'1 white male I somehow deserve something that you don't have.

I have no problem hiring any color or gender but to EXCLUDE white men is somehow ok? The only privilege I see here is if you're not a white male.

Are you actually serious? Do you realize women are a minority group? Do you realize men make up 70%+ of VMware’s demographic? This was an event held by the Women’s POD at VMware, that is why it was an all Women panel. Please think before you write. Apologies for you being a privileged white male that believes everything should be handed to him.
